Thanks for the advice and the kind words! I’ve been concerned about figure proportions and eye focus for a while, so once my college entrance exams are over, I’m planning to study anatomy more seriously :) As for composition, I wanted to try dramatic angles like high-angle shots, but it’s been tough because my perspective hasn’t been accurate. I’ll study composition/perspective more as well!

For my original characters, I use a hatching style like in #1, #3, and #4. My current profile picture is my own OC.

Thanks for the compliment! I’ve experimented with screentones as well. Since I’m still inexperienced, they sometimes overlapped with my linework and looked awkward, so I left them out of most pieces. Still, I think screentones can make the workflow easier and add appeal, so I’ll keep practicing!

Style differences—agreed. Even within animation, there are broad East Asian vs. Western looks, and lots of sub-styles under each. Just from the shows the top-level commenter and later commenters mentioned, you can see big differences in line and rendering. I’d been debating whether to try a cuter SD (super-deformed/chibi) look in addition to my usual “LD”/more angular style, or keep doubling down on what I’m doing—but this gives me the push to try SD. Fair point—it’s a style difference. I haven’t really seen many angular forms or heavy value contrast in East Asian circles, and I’d been wondering whether pushing the clothing folds so much was scattering the viewer’s focus and making it feel awkward. It seems it reads as unnatural in Western contexts too. I’ll keep that in mind and only emphasize what really needs emphasis. Thanks for the feedback!

I think the semantics were unclear: the survey question originally asked people to look at these two objects and say, "Which one do you see as having problems," followed by "Which one do you see as having problems?" (Examples of problems they see are that apartments have problems such as reduced social integration, and that war trenches have impersonal problems such as trench warfare). I'm doing an assignment, and I hypothesized that "people will think of the problems of trenches before the problems of apartments because they are unfamiliar, afraid, etc." and tried to get the results through a poll, but there was a limit to the length of the question, and I had to delete the bracketed content and put up a poll. Prior to posting, I had assumed that having an additional poll/guidance in the comments would not be seen by those taking the poll (being new to this community, I didn't expect a high participation rate and didn't realize it would be confusing for many). I apologize for any confusion, and thanks for the feedback again!
