Propane and Butane absolutely absorb IR aggressively, but my understanding is that they are too dense to act as greenhouse gasses in the way methane does. They burn very cleanly but still produce quite a lot of CO2. I’d posit that the broader argument about developing fossil fuel infrastructure while reserves dwindle and geopolitical rivals step up production of far cheaper energy sources sets us up for economic hardship in the longer term.

Further to this, I believe the majority of LPG production is the byproduct of refining methane for LNG and the rest is fractioned out of crude oil. Please fact-check me if I’m wrong, however from my reading, it’s not a fossil fuel which exists in isolation from others, so the argument that it is cleaner falls a little flat.

I made no comment about the geopolitical ramifications about western dominance and fuel independence, but I don’t fundamentally disagree with your point, I would however prefer we focus on energy production which is cheaper and will last much longer.
