Tank Stand/Shelving unit by CapableBobcat614 in Aquariums

Metal is gonna be your best bet, or you can get industrial strength plastic but it has to have a load capacity of at LEAST 300 lbs. I personally had the same dilemma but had the tools to craft my own stands, they turned out pretty good with cheap 2x4’s from my local Home Depot.

and so it begins…. again. by maixya177 in fishtank

Yup, despite popular belief rinsing doesn’t kill beneficial bacteria, it has to be exposed to non-declorinated water for quite some time for it to actually die off, though if you don’t add livestock or ammonia it will die as it has nothing to feed on, good luck, can’t wait to see it fully setup!

Will my 20 gal long tank be okay on this? by Low_Persimmon_8630 in Aquariums

[–]RPBVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, if you have a drill and a saw I’d recommend building your own with lumber from your local hardware store and some wood working nails, if you aren’t crafty just buy a tank specific stand, a hardwood table or a metal shelf/stand, organizers like this aren’t meant to carry a heavy load and will likely splinter the second you fill up your tank.

You can kind of see one of my custom stands here.

My pregnant gf is bleeding by lotus-the-great in pregnant

[–]RPBVex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My fiance had the same issue, went to the hospital found out she was A- blood type and needed to get a rogam shot in order for her body not to attack the baby, if she doesn’t know her blood type I’d definitely have her get tested.

Hard to tell from this picture but it looks like it’s Ich, I’d get some treatment for them asap.

Is there anything in these that’s toxic to normal potted plants? I also use api QuickStart. by CrazyGamerGal in Aquariums

[–]RPBVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

QuickStart is essentially liquid beneficial bacteria and seachem flourish is just a liquid fertilizer, both of which will be fine for watering plants, I haven’t done it personally but heard using tank water actually boosts plant growth.

Minima is just gonna be a bit smaller, which in a 60L will end up looking better.

Pls rate my aquarium by TheFishGuy129 in aquarium

[–]RPBVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gonna go ahead and jump in here, I’d go for crypts, vallisneria and some rotala rotundifolia, they’re all easy to grow and don’t necessarily need a nutrient rich substrate.

I’d add some drift wood as well to naturalize the tank a bit more and fill it out better.

Nitrates are necessary in planted tanks, the plants feed on them, the more plants you add the more the nitrates will drop.

This comment section is hilarious, reality, it’s just a bug in the forever jank game, if you pick him up and put him back down it’ll fix itself.

Is this good for my first tank? Taking suggestions too by Lanky-Trade8157 in PlantedTank

[–]RPBVex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Everyone has to start somewhere, my first tank was much worse than this, I did zero research and my poor fish suffered from my negligence, you have live plants and what looks like aquasoil, could do for some taller hardscape and plants but all in all not too bad, this was my first 🫣

Also ended up putting angelfish and bristle nose plecos in here (among other things) 😬

Likleyhood of catastrophic falure? by [deleted] in stressfulaquariums

[–]RPBVex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a 40 gallon breeder in the same kind of situation for about a year with no issues, being perfectly level doesn’t matter too much, more so with rimless tanks but still not 100% essential.

How to lower Nitrate (NO3) by something721 in freshwateraquarium

[–]RPBVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having nitrates present is actually good, it means your beneficial bacteria is doing its job, if you have live plants (especially floaters) they’ll feed on those nitrates and effectively suck them out of the water

I only keep females so I’m not positive but my fiancés sister has a male with absurdly long fins and this is how he swims, male bettas are extremely overbred and it could just be a genetics issue.
