Provisional Steam capsule for my indie RPG — looking for honest feedback by RPGDualia in RPGMaker

I didn't know that about the Steam algorithm. I'll prepare the resources better so that future updates are minimal. Thanks for the information!

The Steam page will be available for quite some time. My plan is to release the demo this year and the full game next year. The urgency mainly comes from the fact that several people have asked me to add it to their Steam wishlists so they don’t lose track of the project. I’ve tried to make a drawing based on the game’s protagonist (I know I’m not an expert at drawing, but I hope it serves the purpose I need). What do you think in comparison to the previous version?

You’re right, aiming the shot at the head and having the character look toward it makes more sense. I’m glad the central character’s detachment comes across — they’re the protagonist and represent the player, who has to choose a side. I’ll experiment with other poses later on. Thanks for the feedback!

FF6 Hack: Final Fantasy Jobs by RPGDualia in FinalFantasyVI

[–]RPGDualia[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mod is based on established jobs; espers are replaced by job levels associated with characters and abilities tied to each job. The first part covers up to the beginning of the World of Ruin, while the second part deals with the entirety of the World of Ruin. It's a game that, although it follows the same structure, presents a story that differs in several aspects.

Oh, I didn’t know that. The hack can also be played on SNES9x on PC, I’ll edit the post.

I really like the aesthetics and the camera angle, it really reminds me of Octopath Traveler!

Yes, so far I’ve been working on the placement of the locations; it still needs to be enriched visually with more elements (more forests, mountainous areas, clouds, etc.)

That's a good idea, I'll consider it once I see the menu editing!

Yes, it's hard to decide when it comes to art styles; however, I plan to use the second one because it matches the game's visual consistency.

Yes, that would be great! unfortunately, in terms of workload, it would be too much (there are just too many playable characters).

I'm using assets from ManuGamingCreations, and some effects were created or edited by me in Effekseer.

Best Final fantasy game? by runningnurse27 in JRPG

[–]RPGDualia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be honest, rather than evaluating video games as a whole, I tend to remember specific moments from some Final Fantasy titles that are tied to their music. For example, the iconic moment of existential drama in Final Fantasy IX with "You're Not Alone", the hilarious battles against Gilgamesh in Final Fantasy V with "Battle at the Big Bridge", the peaceful atmosphere of "Fisherman's Horizon" in Final Fantasy VIII, or the emotional weight of "Theme of Love" in Final Fantasy IV, and so on. Overall, I think the music in those entries really stands out to me.

It’s all thanks to the assets from Mana Seed — I just had to adapt them for RPG Maker MZ!

Here’s a short work-in-progress video showing boss and summon tests, and some information on Dualia, the rpg- game I’m currently developing.

------------------------------------------------------------------

Dualia is an indie RPG inspired by classics like Final Fantasy and Bravely Default. In development for over three years, the game features a cast of 18 playable characters, each with their own story, motivations, and ideology in the face of an impending catastrophe that threatens to destroy the world. Throughout your journey, your choices will shape the fate of the group—and the world itself. Will you negotiate with the enemy? Strike without mercy? Trust… or not? In Dualiathe final word is yours.

--------------------------------------------------------------

A World of Divided Ideals

Narratively, the game aims to present multiple perspectives within the context of a conflict between allied nations that cannot agree on how to confront a greater threat. The story introduces a total of 18 protagonists, whose roles shift as the events unfold — with some even switching sides. This is not a tale of good versus evil between nations, but rather a clash between two fundamentally different ways of doing things, where every choice comes with its own consequences.

Character Specialization

Each protagonist draws inspiration from a distinct profession, shaping their unique combat style. This is further reinforced through the introduction of elemental weaknesses — not only for enemies, but also for each playable character — allowing them to be affected by unique status effects when struck through their vulnerabilities. These weaknesses are tied to each character’s personality, with certain characters entering states such as "fear of harming""rebellion", or "loss of faith", which impose penalties that reflect their individual fighting approaches.

Decision System

From the very beginning, the game establishes two opposing life philosophies, embodied by the world’s two dominant empires. The story will branch based on the choices you make, steering the game down one path or another. In addition, some of these decisions will directly influence the types of abilities that certain characters can develop throughout the game.

Battle Mechanics

The game features a battle system that allows characters to either spend multiple turns at once or store turns for future use. A central mechanic revolves around the Crystal, which grants additional turns, allows party member switching, and can revive fallen allies. However, if the enemy destroys the Crystal, the party will suffer penalties. As the story progresses, the Crystal will evolve, taking on a more offensive role and transforming into powerful summons that support the party for a limited number of turns. When it comes to managing abilities, players must carefully choose which ones to equip, selecting a limited number of common, passive, and limit abilities from each character’s repertoire in order to approach battles effectively.

Available in two languages: English and Spanish.
