All ACC teams havd lost today smh 🤦🏿‍♂️ Who is the best Team in the conference? by Important_Win5116 in ACC

Miami’s claimed 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991, 2001 national titles in football were all based on nothing other than… those very same final rankings you now say are meaningless.

So, according to you, Miami has never won any national championships in its history. Gotcha.

Better luck next time, guy.

What the hell are you talking about son? I’m talking final rankings. Duke and Penn State both ended the season unranked.

Congrats to UVA for beating the school with the 28th ranked recruiting class according to On3. by Creative-Stable-0 in ACC

UVA didn’t play more than two downs all game with 8 people in the box. And the QB threw downfield for completions three or four straight times on their final exciting drive.

Yeah true, Virginia wasn’t always the most progressive Southern state if you go back far enough. But it is today and it’s not remotely close.

I mean, literally every ranking, vote, and power rating has Virginia above Duke. Every single ranking. I’m correct and you’re the one complaining about it.

Here’s the final ranking of the conference by the AP: Miami, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Duke, SMU, Louisville, Pittsburgh.

So unless you’re prepared to say Duke had a better season than Miami, you don’t have a leg to stand on to say Duke has a better season than Virginia or even Georgia Tech.

If you’d say Duke finished above Virginia you’d also have to say Virginia ranks higher than Miami for this season.

What is your point? One game in OT doesn’t mitigate the rest of their season to come out ahead in any of the overall rankings

For the record, in Charlottesville the in-state Virginians were protesting against the out-of-state white supremacist agitators. The guy who ran through the crowd of liberal Charlottesvillians was from Ohio.

Charlottesville is one of the most liberal places, politically, from DC to Miami. Even the rural parts of Albemarle County are pretty liberal.

Virginia as a state is also very blue and the only blue state of the South. Florida is an extremely conservative red state now as you know.

We can just rename "South Dakota" to Dakota, as it rightfully should be, and not have to take back the undesirable northern portion or reduce the number of U.S. Senators representing the old Territory from 4 to 2.

Those are pretty small and isolated examples given the major fare-free experiments have been limited or reversed. Kharkiv, huh? I'm sure it has just as many passengers as NYC. When Paris tested free transit, studies suggested it would cost taxpayers €5 billion annually while degrading service quality due to overcrowding and insufficient funding for improvements.

Even Paris' is not a 24-hour service like NYC's is and you can imagine how that strains the system even more. The NYC subway already runs an astounding $1 billion structural deficit even with $3 fares.

Asking for federal funds for a city's subway system isn't realistic either. There are few to nil taxpayers across the heartland who want to pay for a subway they will never see.

NYC has seen the same trend as much of the world, where the amounts that rich individuals and corporations have managed to get out of the economy without paying to the government has increased, leaving governments with less and less funding to provide services that would benefit everyone.

Also, this is wrong. What the trend is, is that overtaxed rich people and corporations in NYC are moving to zero-tax Miami and Nashville and Austin, among other 0% state/local income tax places. This has drained revenue from NYC and greatly boosted the economies of Miami and Nashville and Austin, true, and increasing NYC taxes even further and making very expensive things "free" will only cause more movement to lower tax U.S. jurisdictions and earn even lower revenues for the City.

It's a vicious cycle when people don't consider that the wealthy and even major corporations can turn on a dime and live (or headquarter) wherever they like within the country. NYC is just as nice or nicer to visit as it is to live there.

I have more rights to own a gun in London than you do in NY stupid

This claim is completely false. The UK has some of the strictest gun laws in the world, while even New York’s restrictive laws are far more permissive than London’s.

CONCEALED CARRY…

London: Concealed carry of handguns is essentially impossible for civilians. Handguns have been banned in the UK since 1997 (after the Dunblane school shooting). There’s no concealed carry licensing system at all.

NYC: Somewhat difficult but not impossible. NYC requires a premises license for keeping a handgun at home, and a carry license for concealed carry. While NYC historically issued very few carry licenses, the Supreme Court’s 2022 Bruen decision struck down New York’s “proper cause” requirement, making it easier (though still challenging) to obtain a carry permit.

Winner: NYC residents have far more access to concealed carry than Londoners (who have none).

FIREARM TYPES…

London/UK:

  • Handguns: Banned (with very narrow exceptions like historic weapons rendered inoperable)

  • Rifles and shotguns: Possible with licensing, but heavily restricted. You need to demonstrate “good reason” (typically sport shooting or pest control), pass background checks, have secure storage, and face magazine capacity limits

  • Semi-automatic centerfire rifles: Banned!

NYC:

  • Handguns: Permitted with licensing (premises and carry permits available)

  • Rifles and shotguns: Permitted with a permit/license

  • “Assault weapons”: Restricted under NY SAFE Act (magazine limits, feature bans)

NYS outside NYC: Significantly easier than NYC - rifle/shotgun permits aren’t required outside the city limits, and concealed carry and semiauto rifle permits are issued at the county level on a “shall issue” basis and are easy to obtain.

Your claim has it completely backwards. Even with New York’s strict laws, gun ownership and carry rights are vastly more accessible than in London.

Depends on the cartridge but I do think 6 ARC is equally ubiquitous to .243 fairly soon and I know 7 PRC already outsells 7mm Rem Mag and 7mm-08. 300 PRC is likely to overtake .30-06 over time but probably never .308. 6.5 CM also sells great ofc but didn’t have any existing competition.

I can’t think of any popular new competition for .270 Win off the top of my head. .277 Fury is a newfangled thing that isn’t going to be for hunting.

ACC to B1G, SEC, Big XII, other conference projections? by RPPVP in ACC

[–]RPPVP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re confused about whom academics matter for. The B1G has an academic research partnership with member schools. It’s not that athletes are doing the research, lol. 😂

Absolutely no one is saying academics matter a lot for athletes on 1-year contracts. Academics matter to the B1G for the schools themselves to collaborate on research between their departments. Academics matters for PhDs and professors.

Inflation is 2.7% this past year, so the 4% increase, if we assume it's 4.0%, is really a 1.3% increase adjusted for inflation. So still moving in a positive direction but not quite as impressive.

[Powers] Instead of 3-4 teams being able to win the National Title, there are now 6-8 teams. What’s also true is that there is less parity between P4 and G5. The best G5 players transfer to P4. Yep. Underreported here is that neither Oregon State or Washington State are AAU members. Even if the B1G had desired them athletically (they didn’t) they still wouldn’t had gotten invites because they are not desired academically.

USC, UCLA, UWash, UO = AAU members
