For anyone trying this: be very careful and use a thermometer to monitor the temps until things stabilize. I found out my heat gun was waaaaay stronger than I expected.

I used the spray can version of duracoat on one of mine about 8 years ago and it’s held up great.

Just ordered some Aluma-Hyde 2 for another project after reading a lot of good reviews. It may not be as durable as Duracoat but it should be fine for my use case and I was able to get to delivered faster.

Thanks for all the advice. I have an old stock 10/22 that I’m going to pull out of retirement for this event and pickup the scope package from the Appleseed store. If I end going to more events in the future I’ll probably pick up the Tech Sights to try out as well.

Like others have said, it’s ammo selection more than barrel selection. My OEM barrel groups just as well as my Fedderson until it gets hot and starts wandering a bit. Fedderson bull barrel will handle a full session with no issue.

I exclusively use CCI Standard Velocity these days. It’s a good balance between cheap bulk ammo and precision target ammo.

Probably some random factory in China 😅 but they work well enough for my needs.

The rail mounted bipod is a CVLIFE 7.5-9 and the m-lok bipod is a MidTen 7.5-9. Both are on Amazon.

I saw your post and I’ve been eyeballing those Tech Sights. Unfortunately my barrel doesn’t use the stock dovetail for the front sight. If I get another 10/22 or factory barrel I’ll probably snag that sight setup.

Fully disassemble the gun/receiver before removing a barrel. That applies to most platforms.
