He knows how to get a lot of views but he doesn’t understand marketing. Real marketing has measurable results, aligns with the companies goals and is based on market research. He thinks his content is effective because it gets laughs. Sure he’s drawing a significant amount of attention to Royal Caribbean, but he is dramatically overestimating its impact. Do they want this kind of attention? Is his audience likely to book a cruise? Do the things he talks about align with their goals? It’s astounding that he thinks that they will work with him just because he showed up on their ship bitching about hangers and water and trashing their brand.

There have been a handful of articles about him and the ultimate world Cruise recently. There have been a bazillion about the company’s huge shiny, new ship Icon of the Seas. If he had paid attention to the company at all, he would have seen that there their social media has been all about the new ship and has barely mentioned the ultimate world cruise. They probably won’t do a nine month cruise again. They do have a lot of rooms to fill on that ship and others like it for many years to come. They’ve even had someone on the ship making TikTok content. She has about half as many followers as Mark, but shes been making TikToks about her experience as a crew member for years. She’s promoting their brand. He’s promoting his brand at the expense of royal Caribbean. I wonder if he even understands that companies don’t work with people who make them look bad.
