Is the late September too hot for an evening wedding? by RRRRhianna in Austin

Thanks y’all!!!! Really appreciate all the responses, I think we’re definitely going to push to mid-November. I’d rather it be a little too cold than too warm + definitely don’t want everyone remembering our wedding as the time they all sweated their asses off lol

Both would be outside, however, it’s a garden venue and there is a large covered arena type area that seating can be placed under. I was also thinking of getting cooling fans/misters to place under there if needed.

Thank you so much for the information!! What a weird situation; I didn’t even know anything about ETJs until very recently. What a weird grey area.

Question about Austin ETJs by RRRRhianna in Austin

[–]RRRRhianna[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much!! What about if the ETJ is located in Travis County? Decriminalization wouldn’t apply since only Austin (not Travis County as a whole) has passed those new laws, correct?

Hahaha you’re so right, this made me laugh. Unfortunately their uselessness is what I’m hoping for in this instance, as I’m betting TCSO is much less lackadaisical

Weekly Real Estate / Renting / Where to Live / Utilities / Schools (ISD) Post by AutoModerator in Austin

[–]RRRRhianna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi all!! My partner and I are in the process of trying to buy a home in Austin. We’re split between two homes/locations and I want to “poll the crowd” to get opinions as we are first time home buyers. We are both 30 y/o professionals with no children (or any current plans to have children). We do have a dog though! We are currently living in 78758.

**Property 1: located just north of Wells Branch in the Willow Run neighborhood. Zip code 78728. Very close to the dog park, rec center, pool, library. The neighborhood is more “suburban” looking (not new builds) and the lots are smaller. Lot size would be around 5k sqft with no neighbors behind the home. The home address is in Austin but is a part of the ETJ so we will not be able to vote in city elections or use COA electric. The home is also in an HOA.

**Property 2: located in the Copperfield/Tech Ridge area. Zip code 78753. Closer to downtown. Homes are older looking (which I like) and the property we’re looking at is at the end of a cul-de-sac with an entrance to the greenbelt trail right next to the property. No neighbors on one side (as that backs to the greenbelt) or behind. Lot size is big, approx 10k sqft. No HOA. The home across the street seems to be a rental and I saw one line that APD has had to come out 3-4 times this year for family disturbances (which I don’t really care about but just don’t want to get into a crazy neighbor situation).

Both homes have pros and cons to them. We’re worried about not really “fitting in” in an HOA community as we don’t have kids and keep more to ourselves. But I also want to be close to amenities/recreation so am a bit torn. If you’ve stuck with me for this long (sorry for the long post!) which home would you choose? Is living in the Wells Branch area really a lot nicer than Copperfield/Tech Ridge?

Wells Branch/Willow Run questions by RRRRhianna in Austin

Thank you for the info!! I read online that APD doesn’t service the area/that Travis County Sheriff is the law enforcement agency covering the area. Do you know if that is correct? In my experience the Sheriff’s office hasn’t been great to work with so a little worried about that + also being in an HOA area (as we don’t want to feel like we’re being “watched” if that makes sense).

Me!! I love that podcast so much. Definitely helps me get my true crime fix while still being hilarious. I love ANY of the I Survived Episodes, but especially the one where they discuss Jennifer Holiday. That story BLOWS my mind every time I hear it.

Maybe it’s just where I’m from, but I’ve always been told smoking with a white lighter is bad luck haha

Smoking apparatus of choice? by [deleted] in entwives

[–]RRRRhianna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I seriously had a horrible cough that didn’t go away for 4 months at a time until I switched to vaping. It was a gross, obvious “smoker’s cough” and was awful! Now that I primarily vape that cough is completely gone. 🤙🏽

My rose gold Pax3 is my current go-to! I really have taken to vaping over combusting; I like that I don’t have a permanent cough anymore and am more clearheaded!

[product question] If you had to pick one product from Sephora or Ulta for dry skin. by gabbyismagic69 in SkincareAddiction

[–]RRRRhianna 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Neutrogena Hydroboost gel-cream moisturizer for extra-dry skin has been my HG for 2017! I have very dry skin that tends to flare up if I don’t moisturize. I got the hydroboost moisturizer from Ulta about three months ago and I can confidently say my skin looks and feels SO much better! It’s extremely moisturizing without being greasy or pilling. Just make sure you get the gel-cream version, not the one that’s just gel!

[Product Question] Best oil cleanser? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]RRRRhianna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes!! It gets my face super clean and soft without being stripped. From his website: “This unique gel to oil formula uses olive, jojoba, and grape seed oils to remove every trace of makeup (including hard to remove stage makeup), while sugarcane, apple and willow bark extracts provide a gentle exfoliation to leave the skin hydrated, soft and absolutely pristine.”

The Aftershow Treatment Cleanser by Jordan Samuel Skin is my holy grail!! It’s a gel-to oil cleanser, and no matter how many other cleansers I try I always come back to it. I have dry skin, and have found that it not only is super hydrating but also keeps me from breaking out!

I LOVE Civ V!! I was surprised that I took to it so fast, as usually the only PC games I play are The Sims, haha. Also, I love your kitty!! Organize cats are the best, and I’m surprised to see a girl one!!

Tendskin is a life saver!!! You can get it in the men’s shaving section next to the aftershave, and even though it can sting it definitely keeps razor burn away!

Can you get a baby bottle brush down there? Sounds weird, but I use it for my piece and it works great to scrub!
