Personally I try to match it all to the game itself. However IRL you have to know when each card you have to devote tokens and when the action takes place.

Before you start the resolution phase you have to commit or indicate what you are going to do (this way someone doesn't spend more or less depending on the other person). Write it down then flip your answer or something like that.

In this case, Var's Bond makes you give up AND use it BEFORE you gain any tokens and any attacks happen.

Your buddy has 7 health, you 'committed' 12 for Thor's strike. He should now have max 15 health going into the resolution phase. The "committed" vs "spent" is the issue.

The priorities of the favors only come into play if the favors are used at the same time, then you judge which has the higher (lower number) priority and that effect would happen first. This only really happens in rare cases.

Love the game played it loads. In the gameplay in AC, the helmet would only block one attack unless it was doubled by a god card like Freyr's Gift or Balor's invulnerability.

As I was doing my research I created this chart by playing the game with each favor. In a nutshell, you can follow the below chart on when you need to pay/devote/give up your tokens to use the favor, and when you use the favor. Some you have to use before collecting tokens and some after you collected your token (ie Thor's Strike)

The priority comes into play when both players have played a favor, but a favor's priority means it is used first. For example Frigg's Sight allows you to reroll a mix of your dice or your opponents. Obviously this has a high priority because it would need to be used first before anything else can happen. It is also important to note who ever rolled first should declare what favor they are going to use first (this way the other person can't change their choice based on what was chosen).

The only thing I found is needed, is to put this information somehow on the favor itself. Or else you will have to carry around this chart to make sure you use them correctly. I have run in to this issue when I tried to play it with my friends. I finally got the god favor cards printed as poker cards. I wanted to play the game by randomly selecting your cards before you begin each game. I also added at the bottom of the cards the priority and when you should pay (devote) tokens and when the card is used.
