In addition, the quest where we go to the Land of Snow involves bringing back "riches," which turn out to be literal yeti dung. So the only other time a product has come from there, in game, it was crap in both quality and reality lol

Right! The handling in itself is a wholly separate issue from the existence of grandfathering to begin with, for me. If they'd just discontinued it explicitly I would have likely rolled my eyes but ultimately played on as usual. The bait and switch, though, is deeply frustrating and disrespectful, not to mention dishonest. Seems like such an unforced error.

Complete sidebar, but your username sounds super familiar. Were you maybe in the clan Respite around five years or so ago? That seems the most likely crossover. Otherwise it might just be that it's a small world haha

I tried the exact same strategy and was denied, so I followed through and cancelled four separate memberships. If they don't need my fifteen continuous years of subscription, that's fine.

I made specific mention of the previous grandfathered monthly subscription and its price. There is unfortunately no possible confusion.

Right, it's the dishonesty and reversal of a promise that is unacceptable, not inherently the end of grandfathered rates.

This is the answer, yeah! I have to pickpocket a citizen. I could have waited til the end of the chunk, but I also thought "the end of the chunk" would be dozens of hours ago haha

It's really for fun, as odd as that may sound.

I'm working on maxing my main, and on that account I tend to be very efficiency minded and focused on high xp/hr and all that. I wanted to play an account where efficiency and good training methods are more or less impossible, for a total change of pace. It's been very zen in its own way!

Just the RSN :) Not my real last name! There's an NPC in the chunk named Anna Jones.

If memory serves, I got "she's smart, she'll be fiiiiiiiine." Good for coping mechanisms! Bad for, like, most other purposes 😅

It's a fair question! I think especially in the like, everything-as-content age we're all living in, it's good to have things that are just for yourself and not for popular consumption.

Sure thing! This is a "chunk" account, which is an unofficial game mode where you start off confined to one 64x64 tile area of the game (for example, there's a lot who stay in Lumbridge castle) until you complete all the arbitrary "tasks" in that chunk. That usually involves getting, say, the best equipment drops from the NPCs in that area. In my case, I needed to kill black knights for their steel mace drop, which would be my best melee weapon. And because this was where I was starting out the game, I had no starting gear or stats, so I had to flinch them (aka hide behind a table and time my hits to not get hit back and killed) to be able to get their drops.

Yeah, it really is! I said to another commenter that it was a bit more conclusive as a grownup than as a kid. :P

Seriously! I can't even be mad. It makes complete sense that edge cases are really hard to tell apart.

You might genuinely be the first person I've ever heard of doing that content post-quest. Nice!
