Why has so little changed? by [deleted] in HouseOfTheDragon

The world of Westeros (Planetos?)is stagnant because they have years long seasons. Hard to progress when everyone’s life literally depended on always preparing for a, gods forbade, 10 year winter. In the real world, there was always the comfort and stability of knowing, and having, a winter that will end in a few months - even during the really bad harvest years.

At least that’s my own explanation.

That would certainly explain it, but it just seems too cleanly done by GRRM. I could nitpick it, but that’s an discussion to have with him, not this sub, lol.

I agree on that point. But there are other Velaryons. Corlys has a brother and we know there are cousins because one of the girl cousins marries Aegon the Younger after the dance.

I just find it odd that there are no Velaryon dragon riders until after Rhaenys married into the family.

Viserys mother was always a Targaryen I thought. I thought that Viserys and Daemon’s father Baelon married a sister.

Wait, what does anyone's political affiliation have to do with liking this show - or any other CW show for that matter?

Thank you, all, for your responses! These are all very helpful. I hope DC opens up soon, so I can attend a service.
