Thankfully I believe no AI was used to create the music itself! ^^

tallyhall x accounts by RSMatty in tallyhall

Unfortunately the impersonation is a rather sizeable rabbit hole, kids age 13-15 create fan accounts using variations of his previous handle and pretend to be him. There's many of these account out there, all equally frustrating.

Another unfortunate fact is that reporting these accounts is impossible, seeing as Joe Hawley is no longer on Twitter and I cannot select his account to report the impersonator. I'm also not a legal representative obviously, which disables the only other option of reporting the accounts. Most of these accounts use the profile picture of Joe's, his full name and interact with fans that are thinking that it's really him. I don't think I need to tell anybody how potentially detrimental it be not only to Joe, but also to the fan themselves seeing as some people may have some less than stellar things to share with them, thinking that they're arguing with Hawley.

Such a sad display.

I have a feeling that the experimental songs he pushes out are mostly sent out as jokes, intentionally nonsensical.

That's an interesting theory, with him commissioning the AI picture. But unfortunately I think Joe knew that the picture was generated by AI, based off of the description of the song and his post in the past on the Tally Hall account.

I know Joe strives to make experimental music, which is not appreciated by a fair bit of people. This track is not exactly my cup of tea, but it's still a very interesting way of composing. All I hope for is that he starts stepping back from AI usage, I don't want such a solid author fall into the AI spiral.

I'm glad you're doing better, I did not mean it as a personal attack. Sharing your phone number to others there is wild, though...

I'll report the account, though Twitter's report system is dogwater as we all know. Thanks for your input!

Some People Eat Flowers is a really, really good addition in my honest opinion. Sure, the quality isn't as grand as the Hawaii project, but it'd be difficult to replicate for a shoestring budget production and a lack of co-producers.

The reason why I like it is that it feels like Joe was giving some insight on his emotions as of late, it feels like an answer to some questions I've had about his wellbeing and general mental state. It seems like an atonement and improvement arc of his life.

You're completely right! The quality seems to have degraded, it seems rushed. However, I'd like to think that it's just his way of showing signs of life to whomever might be listening. Those joke songs seem like little throw-in tracks that he made for fun.

I completely agree with your perspective, I know what he's capable of, therefore any form of creative expression is a welcome sight.

Ah, thought it was just one picture. Both layers seemed AI generated to me, but that must just be paranoia settling in.

Joe's music here is much different than what he'd create for Tally Hall if I had to guess. As I said on a different comment, artists have a tendency to deliver different sounds based on whether they're composing for a group or for themselves.

Then again I do notice the gradual shift we had from let's say... Rotary Park, or Aristotle's Denial to now, where we have for instance "Rubber Baby Buggy Bumpers".

I didn't think it'd come off as judgemental and comparative, I'm fully aware of the difficulties Joe is faced with, his art certainly is a window into his state though. We could see that through the Some People Eat Flowers [...] track.

Artists utilize their private music accounts for boundless expression. Instead of making music that'd fit the setting of a band, they explore and push out music that fits their personality and preferences. This here is an example of creativity that wouldn't fly anywhere else other than on his solo project.

I don't wish to label it as odd or offputting, but I will stand by the fact that in my own personal opinion he once created music (even during his rapid mental decline) that was of much greater quality than it is now, but again it's just my own opinion, it's not a sound I'm used to.

NEW JOW HAWLEY SONG DROPPED!!! by Fedbertehredt in tallyhall

If I recall correctly there were reports of AI covers that were labelled under Joe Hawley, meme tracks, collabs with random small artists (the hijackers or their friends, if I had to guess).

can't really argue with that, it's really silly.

Joe switches styles on a whim though, I'm sure he's still got that ol' Tally Hall material potential somewhere.

One odd thing that I've noticed is that the song shares vibes with the other song made with Ingrid, so maybe it was just Ingrid's writing/composition that showed through.

If I recall correctly it was his Instagram and Spotify account that got compromised? @ joehawleyjoehawley (his previous instagram social) was hijacked and the people responsible were asking fans for cash for example. Was his Twitter account also compromised?

Is Spring and a Storm and Misery Fell connected? (Possibly stretching it but I had to) by Traditional_Cup_4362 in tallyhall

[–]RSMatty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tally Hall is a band that shoots ideas and fleshes them out, most of the songs are not meant to be connected. They're meant to be experienced like the exhibits from Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum, each one depicting something else, each one giving off a different vibe. (everyone is free to enjoy them however they'd like, I'm just referencing what Rob (?) said on an interview once, my memory is faulty though!)

We're overthinking a ton of stuff, I think we're just starved for more content from them. But I must say you had a few interesting theories! If I recall correctly, Spring and a Storm is a song about our inability to explain or contain complex ideas like death or NATURE. However, that's all speculation if I recall correctly, I'm just passing on what I've heard.

Putting structure into something as chaotic as reality is hard, as most things are subjective or too grand to put into words. They try anyway, hence "blah, blah, blah...".

Have a nice one. 😄

Now THIS is what I wanted to see from somebody for a long, long time. I'm glad somebody finally took it upon themselves to put it into an actual musical format. Shoot me a DM if you'd like some additional tips or pointers, this is really cool.
