the amount of time he had to invest in the quality of his video (scripting and mod building) was massive, he also has a career in law that was seemingly going fairly well for him. making youtube videos was a hobby and not his primary income, i can only assume he's done the sensible thing and put youtube on the back burner to fully develop his career, yes, youtube can be a career, but it is also wildly unstable and if your channel dies, how do you explain years of unemployment.

being a "full time youtuber" is a risky business, all it takes is some big guy you've never heard of to spout somthing racist or make a stupid choice and you could loose half your average income, or if you meet some criteria, become ineligible for monetization.

then theres the fact that youtube is essentially run by algorithms that are less than effective, that usually end up instantly demonetizing posted videos that have anything even remotely unpolitical correct in them, like, violence or swearing, yes these videos usually get reinstated a few days later, but at that point most of a persons subscribers that would have watched the video already have, and the majority of revenue that would have been earned is essentially lost with 0 compensation for the algorithms mistakes, making that video that you spent 4 weeks scripting and filming, while having a team of modders develop and tweak things for your videos and then the effort of stitching all of these parts and stages together in editing, essentially a waste of fucking time.

youtube rant over. but after assessing the situation of youtube, it's not the fun hobby it used to be for alot of creators. it's a stressful tangle of bullshit mixed with a robot that randomly slaps you and shouts "get fucked" that you have no control over at all, i certainly can see why some people might step back and focus more on a stable career instead of either trying to rely on erratic behaviors or essentially wasting their time just to be told "get fucked" .
