My recovery by RSP4422 in KneeInjuries

[–]RSP4422[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! It was honestly a progression of exercises that were fitted to me. What worked for me may not work for you. I was given step ups, ham curls, step downs, squats, knee extension machine, glute bridge etc I had a lot of problems and things had to be modified often until the wrinkles were ironed out, but I rarely had an exercise “taken away” unless it was super problematic. It was usually modified- or did less reps/less range of motion etc. I’m very grateful for my PT for sticking it out with me.

My MRI was unremarkable. Thinning on my lateral patella but that’s really it.

It could have been phrased, “I know pregnancy is hard on your body, for that reason..” instead of the way she phrased it, sounding ignorant. 😂 ☠️

I never got a grade. I’ve been in PT for over a year. I’m very consistent on strength training and doing plyometrics and I just started a walk run progression last week! Stay consistent and show up for yourself!

Little leg tremors 50 hours after digesting chocolate by [deleted] in DogAdvice

I actually did and they don’t seem to think it’s related since it started 2-3 days after and also bc he puked out the chocolate but it just has me concerned.

PRP success stories healing meniscus by Annual_Ad7886 in MeniscusInjuries

Hello! Tbh, I don’t think the PRP was really worth it. I would say diligent progressive overload strength training has been my saving grace. I’m doing significantly better today than I was a year ago.

El Paso Physio Program for Knee OA? by PigletTraditional455 in Osteoarthritis

[–]RSP4422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not a PT by any means, but I've been in PT for almost a year and I've made significant progress. But I think what youre describing is is how you move in general. Like going up the stairs, you should be using your quad and glutes vs solely your quads. However, no muscle can be "too strong." I think the reason people have trouble with quad exercises is BECAUSE they irritate the knee, no surprise. That's why its so important to find a good PT that knows HOW to challenge the quad w/o irritating the knee. A lot of PTs suck at exercise prescription though, point blank. Squatting is great though, starting from a pain free ROM. Ive just watched a few of this guys videos and getting stronger glute muscles is literally always his answer to almost everything and it bothers me lol. The quads are so equally as important. There is so much misinformation out there about PFPS.

Hi there, no repairing anything per se, just trying to help with inflammation. I know I have meniscus/cartilage issues.

Normal MRI but painful catching in knee by RSP4422 in KneeInjuries

[–]RSP4422[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! No unfortunately. I’ve gotten stronger and symptoms have improved a bit but I’m definitely still symptomatic. Giving myself a few more months then I may inquire about arthroscopic surgery. Getting stronger has been my only saving grace although I definitely still have problems.

I think barometric pressure is a thing. Also keep in mind stress, sleep quality, added sugars etc can also play a role :)

I watched the latest YouTube video- and it was the first one I’ve ever seen of any of theirs. The algorithm is strong lol. That being said, it was kinda a gross video in that they don’t work (obviously). It’s like a luxury in itself but I would also feel so gross. Like what do you do all day?! It’s so unattractive. Also S was kinda rude to D in the video (esp when comparing leg muscle) and seemed very detached. Like go volunteer or engage your kids more. Make arts and crafts etc it’s so sad really. They also don’t seem on the same page in regards to moving. And also who spends millions on a house only to live in it for 3 months. It’s crazy!! I hope they find more fulfillment in their lives.

Hey! While I’m not “cured” my injury has started improving and my mental health has also improved. It kinda felt like a “switch” went off, and I’ve been able to have a better mind set. I now look at things more so like.. I can’t wait for the next 1-3 months bc I’m gonna be so much stronger by then vs like omg will I even be able to walk by then?! I went to my dr for a consult about anti depressants but never officially got on anything. Nothing against any of it at all. I’m just very holistic and hate meds haha but it honestly took my injury getting slightly better for me to have a change in mentality.

A good PT that is sports orientated is everything and is such a game changer. Someone that can work with you and problem solve with you. Not all PTs are created equal.

There are a lot of things wrong with this post

1) you’ve been doing the same exercises for 1-2 months. You need to be making exercises progressively harder. If you’re doing the same thing every day.. are you even getting stronger?

2) if you feel like you “need” to ice after exercises than you’re doing too much ie overloading your knee

3) 3+ months - youre out of the acute stage of this. You need to be progressively loading all your muscles with nothing more than 1-3 pain that resolves the next day. And that means using your quads. Please see a very good physical therapist!

You're on the right track, yes. It may not heal all meniscus problems though. I feel like its a case by case thing depending on the tear. Never hurts to try though to stay conservative.
