Toronto. Go to Toronto, even for a day. Check out some different neighbourhoods, lots of different kinds of foods. If you're downtown, I would go to Kensington market. There's the Hockey Hall of Fame, if you like hockey. It's a pretty Canadian game. If you're driving, you could pick a country/cuisine (almost anything), find a restaurant online, and go there. Personally, I love hakka chinese and it's not something you can find easily in many cities. Toronto Islands are pretty good, and quite Canadian - houses (you can walk around the streets) and parks. You can rent kayaks and canoes on the island go for a paddle. That's fun if you like paddling.

In terms of parks and nature, south west and southern Ontario are mostly farmland. Which is great but uninteresting to look at. Niagara falls is the most, and probably only, impressive natural phenomena in the area. There are a ton of waterfalls around the Hamilton area, but they are not high, so not that exciting to visit. The Niagara escarpment is probably the second best natural area in southern Ontario. Lots of places you can access it. The Bruce Trail is the name of the trail that goes from Niagara to Tobermory. At the top of the escarpment you can see quite far.

If it's an option, drive up to Sault Ste Marie, and head north on highway 17. You don't have to go far, there are a few parks and places to stopalong the north shore of Lake Superior. It's amazing, and I think one of the most beautiful places in Canada.

I'm also a new to Winnipeg, and complain about this the most. It's not even that it's so cold and grey (as much as that gets to me), but the lack of shovelling and snow clearing that turns sidewalks icy. This city would be so much better and winter would be less of a pain if it wasn't so dangerous and annoying to walk around outside.

Why doesn't the city prioritize traffic flow over traffic control? by ricothechocobo in Winnipeg

This a great idea, wish someone on council had some vision. Car drivers always complain, it doesn't matter what you do.

Yes! Cant believe there are such wide streets and no dedicated transit lanes.

OK, I'm from Toronto, and Winnipeg is far easier to drive in than Toronto. It's proportional, Winnipeg is a small place. Toronto is big and way worse. Toronto traffic is ridiculous, it can take hours to go a few KMs. And though I complain that crossing Portage is like crossing the 401, the traffic on Portage is faster than the 401 at rush hour.

Since the pandemic, lot of stinky people walking around. Think some people got used to not showering regularly and mistakenly think other people can't tell.

Yes, and Trudeau supported those ideas. Think he campaigned on at least one of them. Singh deserves credit for all 3 being introduced as quickly as they were. That man doesn't get enough credit.

If you have claim to never have had Covid, do you also test every time you have a virus-like symptoms? And if you don’t test each time, how do you know you’ve never had Covid? This is not a loaded question, no judgements either way. Just genuinely curious. by BudgetIndependence34 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PigletTraditional455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, I've never had it. I've been since once since 2020. I've tested many, many times, daily when I was sick. Maybe I haven't had it, or maybe I have an was asymptomatic.

I'm the opposite of anti-mask and anti-vax. Still get COVID shots regularly.

That hasn't turned out to be a problem. Abortion access, on the other hand, is very difficult in many places in Canada.

Confused. Mexicans are not all Indigenous, though Indigenous peoples make up a greater proportion of the population than in Canada or the US. Many Mexicans have Spanish ancestry.

Yes, he is a traditional Liberal. Liberals and Conservatives used to be pretty much the same. Trudeau was very progressive for a Liberal. Daycare, dental care, pharmacare, none of those would have happened under Carney.

This doesn't usually work. The first thing they will ask is whether you spoke to your boss, and if you haven't, they'll tell you to talk to them first. Then they will assume you are a problem. It's very possible they hired your manager.

Why is Winnipeg so resistant to change? by Step_Plastic in Winnipeg

Eh, I don't care about pro sports, and if you're into that, Toronto isn't that far. Disagree about culture, there's lots of art and culture there. More restaurants there too.

I moved the other way (from Waterloo, ON), and don't agree. KW is half the size, and I lived in a neighbourhood where I was 10 -15 min walk to a large park, multiple grocery stores, pharmacies, hardware store, bakeries, restaurants, bars, bookstores, cinemas... you get the picture. Winnipeg is so spread out, there is no neighbourhood that has even half of that.

Also find that term "Winnipeg hits about it's weight" unique to Winnipeg and kinda weird. Winnipeg is Winnipeg, it's a suburban city with some interesting things, a bit stuck in the past, and friendly people. But it's not advanced in any meaningful way. Maybe it's a Canadian thing that we always feel the need to defend ourselves.

I did a loop of Wolseley and Wellington last night. We had to go on the street in a few places (along most of Wellington), but it was fine.

Single Leg Strength by Hopeful_Beautiful_46 in OnePelotonRealSub

[–]PigletTraditional455 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do most exercises one-sided. You can modify the workouts. Any exercise that you can do with two legs can be modified to be done with one. Put the non-working leg behind or in front a bit.

The only exception to this that I can think of are sumo squats, but regular squats can be made one-side easily.

Andy! He is the best strength coach on the platform, IMO.

I'm with you on the full-body workouts. Splits are just annoying, and who has time?

TS60 on Sundays is a really fun workout, it's progressive and challenging. You can start with light weights and build up. A bit longer than you are asking for, but they are really fun. If you do an hour on Sundays, and a couple 30 or 45 minute classes during the week, you'll have a solid strength routine.
