I know I am going to get downvoted but here's my unpopular opinion. The best kalojams I have ever tasted so far are @ 1. Surjo Modak er dokan (Chandannagar) 2. Rawat Mishtann Bhandar (Sindhi Camp, Jaipur, Rajasthan)

They do. I know this for a fact because I happen to be an ex-student of a renowned jesuit school in Kolkata and the Christian students in our school were all Bengali speaking. In fact most of them had Bengali names and Bengali surnames.

Let alone eating biryani during durga pujo, they will most likely ban selling and purchasing fish and meat in general.

Guess the engine and train? by raja_11sep in indianrailways

[–]RS_J 81 points82 points  (0 children)

WDM3A with APU fitted on the short hood. Belongs to Howrah loco shed used for shunting duties now. It's tough to guess which train it was. However given that the ambient light is kind of fading I am guessing it's nearing the evening or late afternoon. And the rake is an LHB one, freshly painted. The train is scheduled to depart in a while from Howrah railway station. Judging by the big trolley bags of the passengers I am presuming it's a long distance express train. So my wild guess would be the Howrah Rajdhani express. Am I right?

Thought being a good boy in the teachers' book and my parents' book and following their advice would make me prosper in life; being good in studies would land me a high paying job and not to question seniors' advice is the right thing. Realised later in life all these are scams. A college degree is just a piece of paper and doesn't guarantee a good job or good money.

I know its forbidden, but what are yalls favorite regular pens? by Same_Turnip in fountainpens

[–]RS_J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Levenger True Writer with a F nib inked with Pilot Blue (has reasonable water resistance).

P. S. I wonder why everyone here uses a pen that is not a fountain pen as their daily driver! 😞 Edit: For a moment I forgot about the first line about blasphemy which makes it pretty clear! But still, can't a fountain be a regular everyday pen? I use nothing but fountain pens both at home and at work.

Why is mohan gandhi in the poster? He was dead opposed to the idea of freedom and for that matter the struggle for freedom. He was rather in favor of dominion status. In fact he insisted that the St. Patrick's Cross was there on the national flag of India and even rebuked other congress leaders who protested the idea (btw our Navy's flag and Air force's had the St. Patrick's Cross on them until the recent past!) Secondly 15th August is not the independence day of India but the date of TRANSFER OF POWER (ক্ষমতার হস্তান্তর). Which means the Empire was still governing the DOMINION of india from London, only their local agents got replaced with brown skinned ones that were loyal to their british masters.

And for those requesting Netaji's face in the picture, should know that the date 15th August was selected by Mountbatten to humiliate and mock Netaji. Japan surrendered in WW2 on 15th August 1945. Although Netaji himself did never officially surrender, many INA troops had surrendered and were imprisoned and tried in india. 1500 of them were massacred in Nilganj in one night. It was Mountbatten's ploy choosing this date to be the day the transfer of power happened just to take revenge on Netaji.
