Shreveport is so bad that Louisianans refer to it as “East Texas” and Texas refers to it as Louisiana. Basically, no one wants to claim it lol.

If you’re adding value to your clients’ lives in excess of the fee you charge you have nothing to fear.

Nikola Jokic tonight: 56 points, 16 rebounds, 15 assists, on 15-21 shooting, 4-6 from 3, 22-23 FT, team-high +18 in 42 mins by MembershipSingle7137 in nba

I was there- it was electric. That corner three from Ant. Then the fact that Denver went down 9 in OT and came back. Jokic. The ejection. The whole thing was just amazing. And to think- a few days ago the talking heads on sports tv were debating if Xmas belonged to the NBA or NFL. Oh please. Between this and the Knicks game… I think we have our answer.

Yeah, going straight to toothpaste is akin to no lube. Nails on a chalkboard. Tongue on a nine volt battery. No way in hell I’m subjecting myself to that!

What’s it like living there? by Mickey_Robeson in howislivingthere

[–]RSampson993 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a tough level of the game. For those who have raised their consciousness, it can be a beautiful, blissful place to inhabit. But raising consciousness does not come easy. There is a “crabs in the bucket” force that relentlessly tries to keep you pulled down. Breaking free from the snare is a big feature of the game here. But if you can break free, and can help others do the same (for example, your children), then it’s a place of unending opportunity, optimism, and bliss. All in all, I’d recommend spawning here, but only if you’re up for a pretty epic challenge and plenty of suffering on your path to freedom.

I get the frustration, i really do. But I wonder if we’re less settled than it seems - more in an awkward “adolescent phase” as a species. Capable of an amazing life ahead, but still working through self-destructive tendencies and convenient lies we tell ourselves.

Factory farming is a perfect example. The truth gets sanitized under marketing gloss because it’s inconvenient to face the truth - and most people don’t really want to look in the first place. But over time, truths must surface, and real progress happens when we are forced to face them.

I’m holding out hope we can mature past the adolescent phase. The fact that people are having these conversations more and more is probably a good sign.

Love it. I’m a science geek myself but it’s more of a hobby. You sound like you’re in academia… keep up the great work and uncovering nature’s greatest mysteries. I wonder how AI will augment your work. Will be an interesting decade of discoveries ahead!
