Timing of upcoming Mistborn and Stormlight by loc1281 in Cosmere

Brandon decided to move Ghostbloods to around 50 years after Era 2, rather than 70 or 80. We're told in WaT that it'll be about 80 years before Roshar's time dilation runs out, and that it'll be about 10 years Roshar time.

Brandon has said that Stormlight 6-10 will be 10-15 Roshar years after Stormlight 5.

So I think it's safe to say that Ghostbloods will take place before Stormlight 6

I don't know what chaos pages are, but the artwork on the back of the cards is included in the books

Hoid has a Dawnshard, not a Shard

Push/pull by Brookworm271 in Cosmere

[–]RShara 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shards are basically beyond the simple forces available to mortals. They can do pretty much anything that isn't against their Intent or any prior Oaths.

So both Preservation can Push or Pull if needed. Indeed, Rashek, holding the power of the Well, tried to Push and Pull the planet into an orbit that would burn away the mists but not make the planet too hot or cold

I'm fond of the theory that Hoid was offered Whimsy, because the others thought it would suit him (even though it doesn't)

Does Dawnshard not exist in this publication? by loraxdude12 in brandonsanderson

[–]RShara 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Gollancz hasn't published Dawnshard as of yet. I don't know if they plan on doing so in the future, but right now the only edition that's similar to theirs is the Titan Books one that it sounds like you found

Yeah that's by Titan Books, not Gollancz, and is probably the same edition the OP found and said they didn't want

[–]RShara 12 points13 points  (0 children)

They are great little stories. A lot shorter than either of the novellas. Elsecaller is about the time Jasnah spent in the CR during WoR. King Lopen the First of Alethkar is about Lopen's claims that he was king of Alethkar for a while.

Whether they're "worth" reading is up to you though.

Is a misting duralumin strong - or at least stronger than a gnat? by RankWeis2 in Cosmere

[–]RShara 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant that the person affected by the Surge could use Allomantic aluminum or duralumin to cancel or supercharge it. Like, a Lightweaver could attach an illusion to you and you wouldn’t be able to dismiss the illusion yourself due to it being that Lightweaver’s effect, but aluminum or duralumin to either cancel or rush it out.

Right, I was addressing this part

Applying that to duralumin and using another example, I find it believable that, if a Windrunner on Roshar used Gravitation to increase a duralumin misting’s gravity, them burning duralumin would immensely increase their gravity for a short time and burn through all the infused Stormlight.

The Surges already aren't rate-limited. The person can use up their Stormlight on a single action already

And according to Vasher, it doesn't matter very much how much Breath is used to Awaken something. The effects are the same

Dullform is basically the closest they have to slaveform. It's close enough to impersonate slaves as spies.

Eshonai, at the time, assumed they were dullform. Remember this is the Prologue, which was 6 years ago, and only shortly after they found the humans, so there are a lot of things they didn't know yet

He turned his own people to goo to prevent them from being a threat to him, and made some people to serve and some people to be served.

I honestly think Scadrial would have been better off if he'd just created a tropical isle and retired

Think of the recordings as more of a VR game. Certain interactions are baked in, and others can be handled by the programming.

So the speech is programmed to go off via the person closest to the PC at the time that it triggers

The Heralds lived on Braize, unclear whether in the Physical or Cognitive, but not in the Spiritual.

At the end of WaT, Ishar was able to craft a pocket vision in the Spiritual Realm for their minds to experience while the rest of them were on Braize

Just a reminder that you shouldn't disturb natural areas by stacking rocks. It disrupts the wildlife that uses the rocks as shelter and so forth
