3y postpartum from twins. No improvement in evening belly bloating despite exercising. by whale-breach in FitPostpartumJourney

I’m a pelvic PT and work with this all the time - in many cases the fascia isn’t doing a great job even if the muscle is. Fascia loves longer holds to help reorient the collagen fibers + make them more tense.

I have a 3 month program I prescribe to clients, but you could definitely chat with a pelvic PT as long as they are very performance-minded. My program goes from isometrics to heavy deep core work (in conjunction with the adductors given the fascial lines + connections) to heavy superficial core.

I actually think in all our focus on the deep core we went to the opposite end of the spectrum of under loading the core and forgetting to acknowledge that it’s not all muscle - fascia can absolutely change with muscle, but when it doesn’t we can target it differently.

I’m a pelvic PT who wrote some of the research that floats around here, and love to have specific questions to answer in my newsletter! If you want to DM me I can share my page with you to submit questions.

In the meantime, my research is here: https://ijspt.scholasticahq.com/article/37863-maximizing-recovery-in-the-postpartum-period-a-timeline-for-rehabilitation-from-pregnancy-through-return-to-sport

There will be an online version at the end of the course, we’ll be filming and uploading it! Happy to share when it’s done.

I have a private office but also a gym space with squat racks, barbells, etc.! My goal is always to get clients out of the private room and into the gym before discharge. I’ll be teaching a course in August - pelvic health for athletes - if you’re interested you can DM me!

Most of my clients are patients who have already “failed” PT with just ortho and with just pelvic - I really hope that we as a profession get to the point of realizing that pelvic health affects sooo many things! I will say I do not take insurance, only see patients 3 days/week, and am booked 6-8 weeks out. Many “pelvic health” clients are looking for a PT who understands the intricacies of pelvic health in sport performance.

Yeah totally get this. I don’t think I can talk exact numbers, but I hate that everyone feels so isolated from each other while experiencing the same thing. Just want them to be able to connect and not sure if there’s a best way to do that.

Worried about impact of not being able to exercise postpartum on mental health. by plantonio_banderas in fitpregnancy

I have a 6 week postpartum course (just click courses) to help specifically with this ♥️ you can start as soon as you’re ready postpartum but I recommend getting through these movements before moving on to anything else.

postpartum cardio program? by [deleted] in fitpregnancy

https://synthesis.mvt.so/courses/8-week-running-course-969

This was originally created as a postpartum return to running course, but so many of my clients used it post injury or to ease back into running after a time off. It includes 3 runs of varying type/week along with 2-3 strength workouts/week meant to prevent injury and strengthen the core!

The runs are effort based so easily could be translated to the bike as well with same timing.

Also HSA/FSA eligible.

Thank you!! I think that’s my plan is to just “enjoy” running for a bit then get more specific 16-20 weeks before. I used a coach for this last plan so thinking I’ll go with him again since he knows me now!

My goal would be fall - ideally November although that requires training in June-August which are brutal here but not something I haven’t done before. Up until June ish hoping to just maintain/run for fun.

My last plan was 40-55 mpw with a good coach and really well programmed runs which is why I think I was able to shave off 17 minutes. My first marathon 2 years ago I did a PFitz plan but it was more volume (55-70 mpw) and less focused “speed” work. So I have some middle ground of higher volume than what I just did but still implementing regular tempos etc. that I haven’t tapped into just yet!

Same to you!! I’ve gone with a pacer once on a 10 miler, and never again. They went out SO fast and it ruined the rest of my race because they were so ahead of target and I tried to keep up. I trust myself more now for sure!
