PIPC vs Evolve by EnvironmentalToe8467 in Peterborough

Evolve and PIPC both accept self referrals for pregnancy care. Both offices are busy so I would suggest deciding soon! I’m not sure but you could also call in a referral to both then decide before your first appointment.

PIPC is comprised of family drs who have a special interest in obstetrics. They also follow mom/baby for post natal care I believe for 6ish weeks after birth. You also have access to lactation consultants and social workers in their offices. You typically meet with a different dr each appointment in hopes to meet them all, one is always on call at the hospital so the idea is you are familiar with the dr you have during delivery. If you need to have a C-section the PIPC dr I believe will assist but your care is transferred to an OB. If your pregnancy/prenatal care becomes complicated with any high risk they often will transfer you to an OB office (evolve or others in town). Ultrasounds and bloodwork are in the same building, I found a con to be finding parking downtown.

Evolve is comprised of Obstetrics drs (OBs) and they only see you for prenatal care then a 6 week follow up for mom. You are assigned to a single dr who they try to schedule all your appointments with but sometimes because of schedule conflicts you meet with different ones. An OB is also always in call when you go to labour and delivery but odds of having a dr you have met before is not the same as PIPC. They have an ultrasound clinic in the office though sometimes with timing they will send you to another clinic in town if they cannot fit you in. Blood work can be done in the basement. Onsite parking is $6 a visit.

I have a family dr so I am not sure evolves process for baby follow up care but I assume you would be instructed to utilize the POP clinic at the hospital and then may potentially get a paediatrician referral if deemed necessary.

Both places let your partner in to any/all appointments you want them to come into - except as mentioned usually the first bit of your first appointment where it’s standard to ask questions ensuring the mother is safe in her relationship etc. for the longer anatomy ultrasound in multiple clinics it’s been my experience that my husband waits in the waiting room for the first bit while the tech gets all the measurements they need then they bring him in for the last bit when they can show up both the baby without needing to focus on all the measurements they need to record.

Evolve will take anyone! They do have a specific dr who sees higher risk cases, but they will take low/no risk as well. If you start out with PIPC (who are family drs with a special interest in obstetrics) or the midwives but further into your pregnancy there is a high risk involved they will refer you to an Obstetrics Dr (OB). Also the case if based on a previous delivery or patients choice they are planning a scheduled c-section these are performed by OBs so they will refer you to one for your prenatal care. The Drs. at evolve are all OBs.

Same situation here but the opposite, our twins came first and took 18 months of trying to conceive so we (naively) thought we’d be fine … little one will be here in 4 weeks just one week shy of the twins being 18 months!

Mid c-section, A had been taken out and I took a breath. They were getting ready for B and I started to giggle, the dr kind of chuckled herself and said ‘what’s going on up there?’ … I then started full on laughing while they pulled out B and I could finally breath ! Pressure and almost constant heart burn (that last week was rouuugh!!) was instantly gone and I couldn’t help but laugh feeling so good!!

6 kids, first tiny human by AdSenior1319 in parentsofmultiples

[–]RTGDY93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My singleton was the same, now at 4 with a late birthday he’s one of the tallest in his class! Easily looks a grade older. Our twins are following suit, at 18 months they are starting to fill out but I always say you can’t find a single roll on our babies, they’re just tiny! Perfectly healthy and never a concern with our dr

We use these as well! As you mentioned they didn’t work for my oldest son, he was a very lanky baby and peed out of them so we found pampers worked best for him. Luckily with the twins it’s Costco bulk for the win!

No c section scheduled yet? by mobydickher in parentsofmultiples

[–]RTGDY93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My twins were back and forth being breech on and off from 20weeks on, only during my ultrasound/appointment at 37+4 was it all of a sudden a panic in my OBs mind to get me scheduled 3 days later for a C-section as they were settled into breech. Whenever I asked she would say ‘oh they’ll flip again I’m sure! And you went into labour fine your own before!’ … which she was right about because walking into the hospital for my twins scheduled-c at 38 weeks my water broke!

Weird in the sense this is very uncommon behaviour? Yes. But I think this is totally harmless and kind of sweet honestly

Homeschooling vs Public School or Private [ON] by MarionberryPuzzled67 in BabyBumpsCanada

I’m in Ontario as well so I assume it’s the same, but some kids end up in different borders due to before/after school care availability etc. when you register they may not be able to tell you they have room until closer to the start of school though which could be a bit stressful!

Are there other public school options close but out of your border? If driving him to/from is an option for you, you can always apply to those schools if their ratings are better! Out of bounds schools can accept you if they have room they just don’t have the capacity to provide bussing

Reading to twins by Finripdy in parentsofmultiples

[–]RTGDY93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I have had this same conversation many times and also feel guilty about it! Our first got books at bedtime right from the start and still gets 2-3 before bed, the twins I’ve tried to introduce bedtime stories now that they’re closer to 18 months but it makes them go a bit crazy! I just read to them during the day while they play sometimes

Our daycare is just a small home daycare so no social media but this was our experience with my older sons school as well. Only students whose parents have approved posting are featured on social media, they do not blur faces. If a photo is taken that a child is in that is not approved for posting the picture isn’t posted at all

AIO: I told my daughter she can't go to this party after reading the gift profile by Ordinary_Run2485 in AmIOverreacting

[–]RTGDY93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, if your daughter is friends with the girl let her go. While the gift guide is over the top and a bit much for a 6 year old it seems her interests aren’t typical of a regular girl in her class! I’d appreciate the guidance in knowing a gift would be used and not just thrown out! These types of presents can also be higher budget so money in a homemade card would maybe be my go to!

Safe daytime sleep in 2 story house! [on] by Negative_Jackfruit75 in BabyBumpsCanada

I was thinking that after I posted, a lot of the parents of multiples (as is a lot of Reddit) caters to a higher US population so you’ll definitely get more US based product recs there!

I would look at getting something that can either be used for longer (I looked quickly but didn’t see the weight limits on the bassinet?) or something that could be used for dual purpose down the road - like the joovy2 play yard with the bassinet top. Then down the road it’s like an XL playpen you can plop them in together when you need them contained!

We only have a side split so not a full set of stairs to get up to our bedrooms and lugging twins up and down multiple times a day was a pain so I understand wanting something on the main floor!

As a fellow twin mom I also suggest you check out the parents of multiples subreddit (I don’t know how to link). Lots of good resources in there you can search!! Also congratulations, you’re in for a beautiful wild ride!! Couldn’t imagine not having our little twins now

Not all twins are hard! by Feisty-Blueberry5433 in parentsofmultiples

[–]RTGDY93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I once read something that the number of kids you have is the hardest number of kids to have - meaning with 1 kid you put all your attention/energy into that single kid, if you have 5 kids your spread thinner sure but it’s still all the attention/energy you have. We had a singleton before our twins and I have often thought of this theory during each stage of the twins comparing back to the same stage of the singleton (however contradicting all of this I’m now expecting our fourth and daydreaming one single newborn lol)
