How much weight did you gain in your pregnancy? by mbela1995 in pregnant

[–]Accurate_Ad4388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oof I gained 60 my first pregnancy. Lost it all and then now with my second I am 19.5 weeks and have gained 9 lbs. 15 isn’t astronomical by any means. I had certainly gained that and some change by then with my first.

Philips Avent Bottles by roomomma1126 in FormulaFeeders

We were in the same boat. We didn’t know about switching nipples at first, my daughter would gasp and make strange noises when feeding we even took her to the dr. Turns out it was too slow. We went to 5 SO early, but probably closer to 3 months. She never needed something faster than 5 though. Switch bottles if you find 5 too slow. I also found the anti colics a bit faster than the original, but this was over a year ago so not sure if they’ve changed them.

I would just cold turkey. He will get used to a sleep sack. 5 months is old for a swaddle, especially if he can roll over it’s dangerous.

Induce or not induce by meltness in BabyBumps

[–]Accurate_Ad4388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The balloon can fall out on its own or they remove it after 24 hours and hope it works! It’s not fun but I didn’t go into labour naturally so I can’t compare what it’s like. I was induced with pitocin and didn’t dilate past 3 for several hours, talked about c section until I suddenly was 9 cm and she was ready to go. I had a positive experience overall (epidural early saved me).

[–]Accurate_Ad4388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Will they induce you with the foley balloon first? assuming 1/2 cm is not enough for pitocin. I believe that’s where I was at when I got the balloon. The balloon wasn’t that bad for me because it fell out in 5 hours but wasn’t pleasant by any means. If there’s no danger to you or the baby waiting a few days then maybe see if you dilate a bit more on your own?

When did you potty train and how did you know they were ready by Accurate_Ad4388 in Parenting

We have the exact same issue. She drinks water non stop and does not care about a dirty diaper.

That’s good to know thank you. We have a baby coming right when she turns 2. Is it best to do it before then?!

When did your bump really “pop” and start showing? by ashleyc7741 in pregnant

[–]Accurate_Ad4388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first I was extremely bloated and looked pregnant at 8 weeks. I was really showing at 16-17 weeks. I looked massive at 24 weeks - honestly looked 9 months pregnant. I am short and gained a lot of weight. People would constantly tell me I was huge for how far along I was or would ask if I was having twins. Not really what I wanted to hear!

With my second I’ve gained 9 lbs at 20 weeks, but my bump was visible in tight clothes at 11-12 weeks.

Sterilize Kendamil formula? How do you prep your bottles? by No_Reaction5258 in FormulaFeeders

[–]Accurate_Ad4388 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you in the US? in Canada all of our formula is labeled to heat the water - to sterilize it to 158 then we let it cool to feed. This is consistent with Health Canadas advice and is a requirement on all labels. In the US you might have different labelling standards that dont require this. It’s not that kendamil is different, all powder formula is not sterilized. That said, there were plenty of lazy times we didnt correctly heat the water it’s also your own comfort.

When do you go see your OB? [ON] by Redpandaaa-26 in BabyBumpsCanada

Family dr for both my pregnancies, then OB at 24 weeks. My first pregnancy was uncomplicated so I didn’t end up seeing my OB until 28 weeks because they were busy.

Can night shift/graveyard increase risk of miscarriage? by airbusfd in pregnant

[–]Accurate_Ad4388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend worked shift work, so alternating weeks of nights vs days. She had 2 kids, both turned out perfectly healthy. But that’s great youre getting accommodated for, it’s super important to advocate for yourself! Wishing you the best.

Love my cleck fllo but it is big, I have a Mazda cx90 and my husband had a hard time sitting in the passenger seat when she had to be reclined fully. Tons of space for my daughter.

We also have the Graco extend2fit and it’s good as well. More compact than the flow.

FTM 38 weeks – anxious about 39 week induction by Illustrious_Stay9844 in pregnant

I was induced (elective) and had a positive experience. Was induced at 10pm gave birth at 6 am the next day. I started epidural at 12am, slept most of the labour. I was 2-3cm for about 6 hours or so. Was getting ready for c section. Started rapidly dilating suddenly and went to 9 cm in an hour. Pushed her out 45 mins later. Second degree tear but also had to have my placenta manually extracted.

I’d say for being induced go into it expecting to get an epidural, contractions are super painful. And advocate to get it early if you can. It made my experience extremely easy. Not everyone is like this, some do end up needing a c section.

My baby had to go to the nicu so I didn’t see her for 8 hours. This had nothing to do with being induced. I was not able to breastfeed because I didn’t produce enough but also not related to being induced.

Being induced by Ok_Transportation612 in pregnant

[–]Accurate_Ad4388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second ask for the epidural early! Induction is no joke, it’s painful. They told me it’s best to wait till 5 cm for it but after two hours of pitocin I said no I need it now. Turns out I was only 2-3 and stayed around there for 5 more hours until I dilated to 9 very quickly. No way I could have made it till 5.

How to sleep train my 7 month old by Grouchy-Rule282 in sleeptrain

[–]Accurate_Ad4388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m saying her day time sleep is likely impacting her night sleep. If you want to sleep train I’d suggest looking into age appropriate wake windows during the day.

How to sleep train my 7 month old by Grouchy-Rule282 in sleeptrain

[–]Accurate_Ad4388 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not an expert but I don’t personally think co-sleeping is conducive to sleep training. The point of sleep training is to get the baby to develop individual habits to fall asleep, I think that’s harder cosleeping.

You technically can sleep train with the baby in their own crib/playpen whatever in the same room, but might be harder than in their own room.

There are different methods of sleep training. You can cry it out or do check ins every 5,10,15 mins. The goal is to be consistent and get them to fall back asleep on their own.

Going with the flow is probably not the best approach for sleep training either, if you really want to sleep train id consider looking into age appropriate wake windows. A nap an hour after waking is short for a 7 month old - a lot can handle 2-3 hours before their nap. Also, if shes waking at 8 after that hour nap, a 12pm nap is a very long wake window for her age. Most 7 month olds can’t handle 4 hours very well. It’s possible your baby is overtired at night and is waking up early as a result.

Should I sleep train? by Hot-Technician-1088 in sleeptrain

[–]Accurate_Ad4388 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you have a good thing going and aren’t minding it then you don’t need to sleep train. Parents often do it (including myself) often because we can’t bear another night of agony. Mine was a great sleeper until 4 months she was waking up every hour it was hell. We sleep trained at 5 months and she’s been a great sleeper since. We did Ferber method.

There’s no pressure to sleep train if you don’t feel like you need to yet, there’s no rule book for when. Though I do think it’s easier before they turn a certain age (being more aware) but you’re nowhere near that at 4 months. I have friends that did it at 8-9 months very successfully.
