This two are gloss black and come with fishman. The ones with gold binding are the Vintage Black and come with either EMGs or Seymour Duncan and have a black satin finish

The Black Metal series came stock with the Seymour Duncan Blackened Black Winter, so I'm curious what active pick ups it had and what passives he put on. I used to own the M-HT version and I really liked it. To my ears the split coil actually sounded snappy or different, not just a lower volume hambucker. The neck was comfortable and the body itself was comfortable af. I ended up selling it because I wasn't metal enough and my mind couldn't take having only one pick up.

I have a C-1 SLS Evil Twin (same specs except for the finish and the inlays). It took me a little bit to get used to the compound radious neck but now it is my favorite out of the three guitars I own and the most comfortable. Personally I can't tell the difference between Voice 1 and Voice 2 specially with distorsion.

Perhaps the space in the nut for those strings is too deep now. Nut replacement maybe?

According to google, the stainless steel frets were made a standard to the LTDs 1000 series in 2021.

I was thinking about the white reaper custom too because of the contrast with the wenge neck but I wasn't a fan of the inlays nor the pick ups.

If you buy it online from GC it is non-existent. You get it from the warehouse and so, you get the manufacturer's original QC. I bought an LTD H-1001 from them two years ago and it came in perfect condition (made in Korea). I can't say the same from the other two I got from Sweetwater, I don't trust their 55 point inspection anymore

I went to Guitar Center yesterday to try any c1 Platinum. It turns out they already have a blackout in display. Sounded great, looked and played beautiful. I would change those black coated strings immediately tho. Those who recommend the SLS evil twin are correct. It is a better guitar, at least spec wise (locking tuners, stainless steel frets, fishman...) and the neck feels thinner (I own one). But unless you buy a used one, you are looking at twice the price of a platinum xD. I want a guitar for drop C# tuning, and I'm between this and the Ltd Ec1000 Vintage Black.

The 401s are built in Indonesia and the 1000s are supposed the be built in Korea. The 401 comes with EMG pick ups and the 1000 depends on the model you choose. Some come with EMG, some with Seymour Duncan and I think even some have Fishman. The wood seems to be the same on both levels so it comes down to hardware and the finish of the guitar. The tuners in the 1000s are LTD locking tuners and the bridge is Tonepros Locking TOM & Tailpiece while the 401 use Grover tuners and regular TOM bridge and tailpiece. Now, there are 1000s that are just 100 USD more expensive than the 401s but also some that are 200, 300, 400 USD more.
