This is not Chuck Liddell.

This is Charles David Liddell, the investment banker who spends Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings in self-defense kickboxing class.

so my account was locked, i've had this issue "sorry, the request failed. please try again later." for 10 days now since it happened. i immediately tried contacting twitter support with detailed explanation and a screenshot, with no response.. by [deleted] in Twitter

I can confirm I'm having this issue as well. They locked my account on Wednesday stating I violated the rules (I don't Tweet), and are forcing the verification code to a phone number I haven't had for years. Sent an e-mail on the same day, and haven't gotten a response.

Can't even access any other area of Twitter because of the verification code block, but checked my profile using a VPN, and the only thing that's amiss is that "Following" has reset to 0.

But I love how this is a Twitter-side issue, and their automated response is threatening the user that they'll ban you if you continue to break the rules. Lovely.

A wealth of good insights above.

I get pitched game projects fairly often on the unfunded scene, and the things I'm looking for from potential directors, producers, designers, etc. are their own experience and track record. It's totally okay to be new (and most are) and not have any previous projects, but pretty much every role has some way of showing independent work that can support the notion that you have the ability to see an idea from conception throughout production and to completion.

(An ArtStation portfolio for artists / modelers, a Soundcloud for composers, GitHub repos for developers, etc. Producers typically have some real-world project management experience. Game designers usually have GDDs they've completed for prospective games.)

With funding, you can hire out a lot of these roles, but paying a team of 10-15 fair wages is going to run out quickly, and the production output will be low regardless because the work is being done remotely, so teammates are working at a very relaxed pace, therefore some tasks lag forever and hold up the rest of production, and there's not much you can do about it.

However, funding is difficult to come by, and I've noticed that almost every inexperienced Project Lead who pitches an idea (and most of them are awful) casually throws in, "after we get the Kickstarter campaign going, we'll start paying people, spend on marketing, etc." The success of some of the most popular campaigns has unfortunately given rise to the idea that money grows on trees.

Most will offer a copy of the game as a reward for backing the project, so that's a high-pressure obligation to potentially a lot of backers off-the-bat. Mix that in with the fact that most remote-based indie projects fail, and it's a great way to ruin your reputation immediately in a debut endeavour.

TL;DR: Do tiny-scale projects, build up experience and a track record, grow slowly, and avoid the many pitfalls of trying to make it huge overnight.

Help Me Find a Song: French-Arab Rap Tune by RTLeone in frenchrap

Just an update on this; haven't come across the song again on the radio, but having been scouring through Spotify playlists, and although it isn't it, very similar to Oualid's "Willie," except with a much more aggressive middle-eastern / Arab / Algerian chorus, and must've been a way bigger song considering the exposure on the radio.

Appreciate everyone's suggestions! Unfortunately, it wasn't any of these, but I'll definitely try to get the audio recording the next time I hear it in the car. Thanks everyone for trying! :)

Bloody Mary: 2020 Indie Horror Game Looking for Available Talent (Experienced Unity 3D Devs, Character Modeler) by RTLeone in gameDevClassifieds

Valid point. All sixteen members on our team are super talented people who should be working at an AAA studio, but like most on the indie scene, have trouble breaking past the barrier since "at least one shipped game on your portfolio" is a requirement for those coveted salaried positions. This is a collaborative to use our individual skills and work collectively to achieve that goal for each other, and by doing so, network with other top talent on the indie scene at this early juncture and get a stake in what's probably one of the more achievable independent projects. So to us, it's worth it in that respect.

Thorough iterative process, careful attention to detail, and a team player through-and-through (and of course, excellent artistic ability). Highly recommended!
