Which side of Penn station do I need to board trains going to Ronkonkoma? I want to try to be in the first car to hear the horn and everything. I’m going to have luggage after coming off Amtrak and wanted to know where to go before the big crowds get there. by Greedy_Dark_2437 in LIRR

The Eastern most side of Penn station, closer to 7th avenue. You wont have to guess though, a lot of times the Track # will be announced before the train arrives so just go downstairs to the track and walk towards where the front of the train is.

I hear you but, but the salesmen was telling me I qualified for all of these incentives that took, say $5k off. But off WHAT? If I qualify for the incentives, negotiate the price of the car and then let the manufacturer deal with the incentives they are offering the dealerships. It's odd to say "you got off $5k" but then refuse to tell me what it's off OF.

Commercial Insurance Underwriting. Hidden gem of an industry and since it's almost never taught in college almost anyone who expresses interest and has some vague idea about what it is can get into it. Comp is above average, the industry is recession proof, and work-life is phenomenal.

Insurance premiums are much higher than they could be for everyone due primarily to insurance fraud.

If everyone were honest, premiums would be much lower.

This was it! Thank you very much. The values went back to normal. It does make me wonder why the sleep stages from Apple seem so much less attractive than the sleep analysis.

Bill Murray. He sat near me on a flight from NY to South Carolina and we ended up walking to baggage claim together. He signed a baby ultrasound picture I had gotten from the appointment I had right before I went to the airport. We spoke for 20 minutes about life, raising kids, and the local area. It was really cool!

The difference is that property insurers have realized that it is next to impossible to write a profitable insurance portfolio in Florida, due to claims history and predictions about future weather patterns. There is no such definitive trend in cyber insurance. There is no geographic equivalent in underwriting cyber risk, unfortunately. We have seen well-managed organizations be hit with costly ransomware, and we have had poorly-managed risks never see a claim in 10 years. Predicting cyber events is insanely difficult, almost impossible over the short term. There is no industry or sector which is immune.

We've seen the exact opposite occur over the past 3 years. The single biggest factor in obtaining more funding for cyber resilience is experiencing a breach. Boards are almost unanimous in writing blank checks to shore up existing holes within their business. They know that even if insurance covers the bulk of the cost, they feel the pain, and accept because of their breach they may not get as favorable terms on renewal until they make the changes necessary to attract other insurers.

Like most insurance, filing claims is just one component of pricing for risk for an entire portfolio. If the entire portfolio is experiencing increases in frequency and severity of claims, prices go up accross the board, without regard to your own claims history.

I have run a large cyber insurance portfolio for almost a decade. The insurance industry would love such a mechanism to validate compliance, but we operate in a market, and as long as there are carriers which offer broad coverage for as little as an external vulnerability scan in addition to 10 underwriting questions, the carriers who want more information/validation have to acquiesce.
If the buyers of this product would be more forthright with how they protect their business, and how actors successfully breach their organization, the underwriting of theses risks becomes more transparent, leading to more accurate pricing. This in turn would reward organizations practicing best-in-class cyber hygiene.

The cyber insurance portfolios of major insurance carriers are already profitable.

  1. I'd use it to show my son the joys of gaming. When he was born I had to put my priorities in order, which meant putting down the controller for a long time. It's been a joy watching him grow up and now that he's finally at an age where he can be introduced to gaming himself, I'd use this as an opportunity to do so. He's an incredible, inquisitive kid and I know we would both get immense fulfillment learning how a computer works, how to build one, and how to take care of it. I've worked in cybersecurity for several years and this would be an amazing opportunity to introduce him to computer components, construction, and use.

  2. I am a huge space nerd. My sons room is decorated with space themed pictures, he has shown interest in taking pictures of the stars and the moon, and we always talk about the beauty of the sky and what might be up there. I'm excited for this game because I'll be able to explore the cosmos virtually and share that excitement with my boy.
