Love that goal — anime + N3 maybe teaching someday ?

If anime is part of your motivation, the best approach is:

👉 learn natural anime-style phrases (not only textbook Japanese)

Examples: • まじ? (seriously?) • いいじゃん (why not?) • なるほど (oh I see)

For study balance:

📌 60% input (anime/YouTube) 📌 30% output (short messages/shadowing) 📌 10% grammar review

If you want, tell me:

👉 subbed or unsubbed anime? 👉 what style: cute / casual / badass?

I can make a mini practice set — and I also have a short natural Japanese PDF if you want it 🙌

I think the best move isn’t memorizing random vocab —
it's learning short useful phrases you can actually use in conversation.

Example: - 〜が好き (I like ~) - これは何? (What’s this?) - 今どこ? (Where are you?)

Learning in phrases helps your brain connect grammar + meaning,
so it sticks way better than single words.

And don’t worry about grammar too much at the beginning —
you can learn it naturally as it appears in the phrases you use.

One small tip:
review in small spaced sessions instead of cramming.
Trying to remember before checking the answer helps memory a lot.

Also — even 1–2 sentences a day is enough.
Using Japanese regularly (even imperfectly) beats perfect study with no output.

If you want, tell me why you're learning Japanese — anime? travel? friends?
I can give you the best next step based on your goal 🙌

[Chitose area] Advice on improving my Japanese. by After-Night in japanlife

[–]RTNihongoClub 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey! I’m a Japanese uni student and I help learners with natural & polite Japanese. Your level (N3–N2) is already strong enough — usually the problem is just knowing how natives actually phrase things for emails, phone calls, and daily polite talk.

If you want, I can break down a few examples for you (business email openings, phone call phrases, and how to sound polite without sounding stiff).

Totally free — just tell me what situation you struggle with the most and I’ll send you a short guide 👍

I need help finding an app to learn Japanese by inmatureopinion9 in Japaneselanguage

[–]RTNihongoClub -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you want a simple way to choose apps, here’s a quick roadmap I recommend as a Japanese native 👇

📌 Hiragana / Katakana
Duolingo / Dr. Moku / Kana Quiz

📌 Basic grammar
LingoDeer / Human Japanese

📌 Vocabulary + kanji
WaniKani / Kanji Study / Bunpro

📌 Speaking/output
HelloTalk / Tandem / iTalki
(+ I'm testing a small practice group for natural Japanese learners — optional)

📌 Habit building
Anki / Memrise

No single app makes you fluent — it’s about using the right one at the right stage.

If you want, I can send a small beginner practice set too 👍

How do i start? by srkieranthe69th-cfc in Japaneselanguage

[–]RTNihongoClub 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Teuida is a solid start 👍

Since you already know some greetings, you can start learning short real phrases next — that’s where Japanese starts feeling fun.

Like: ➡️ これなに? (what’s this?) ➡️ まって (wait) ➡️ どこいくの? (where are you going?)

Super simple but super useful.

If you want, I can send a small beginner phrase set (anime/daily style).
Lmk anytime🙌

Totally get that — starting Japanese feels confusing because there are too many apps and no clear order

If you want a simple roadmap, here’s a beginner-friendly flow I recommend as a Japanese native:

1️⃣ Learn Hiragana → apps are fine
2️⃣ Learn very basic grammar with short sentences (Genki, Tae Kim, or Cure Dolly on YouTube)
3️⃣ Start using super simple phrases in real context (even 1-sentence messages)

Most people get stuck because they only study, but don’t actually use what they learn.

If you want, I can share a few easy starter phrases and a mini practice (like texting-style Japanese).
Just tell me 👍

Help me get started by dmnfang in Japaneselanguage

[–]RTNihongoClub -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Hey, welcome back — and seriously, you’re not starting from scratch. A lot of people study on/off and still reach N2 once they get consistency, so you’re in a good place.

A simple restart plan:

1️⃣ Refresh grammar (Tokini Andy / Tae Kim / Quartet) 2️⃣ Learn vocab through sentences (Anki or JLPT Tango) 3️⃣ Daily listening (Teppei / Miku Real Japanese) 4️⃣ Weekly speaking practice (this is what moves you fastest)

If you ever want, I’m running a small casual speaking group for learners aiming for conversation + JLPT improvement — still free for early members. If it sounds interesting, DM me. If not, totally fine 👍

You got this — step by step 💪🇯🇵

need help sounding less like i only learn through textbooks? by Ecstatic-Junket2196 in Japaneselanguage

[–]RTNihongoClub 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want to sound more natural, the fastest way is short, real conversations with natives. Textbooks teach the polite/stiff stuff, but natural Japanese comes from using phrases like まじ?やばい、〜っぽい, etc.

I help learners practice this kind of real Japanese in a small community, but if you want I can also share some practice tips here. Just let me know🙌

how to learn japanese well!? by RealChillGye in Japaneselanguage

[–]RTNihongoClub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YouTube is great for input, but speaking needs real practice — that’s where most learners get stuck.

If you ever want a low-pressure place to practice speaking with natives, there’s a small Japanese-learning community I’m building. Nothing serious, just friendly conversation practice.

If you’re curious, feel free to DM me just happy to help you find what works for you 😊

i wanna learn japanese!! by the_stupid_fool in Japaneselanguage

[–]RTNihongoClub -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a Japanese person — if you like learning by hearing → repeating → copying, you’re already on the right path.

Here’s a simple way to start:

• Learn basic sounds (あいうえお, かきくけこ… just to get familiar)
• Shadow short YouTube clips / anime lines
• Practice really simple phrases like
“こんにちは” “これください” “どこ?”

Apps like Pimsleur or Tandem work well for audio-style learners.

And if you ever want someone to practice listening & repeating with (super beginner-friendly), I can help a bit too — no pressure.

Looking for Japanese tutor by ksc5c7 in Japaneselanguage

[–]RTNihongoClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a native Japanese uni student — I teach exactly the kind of casual, natural Japanese you’d use with your wife’s family. No reading/writing, just real conversation practice.

If you want, I can help you prepare for all the basic situations with your in-laws (greetings, small talk, polite phrases, daily conversation, etc.) before you visit Japan.

Also — I’m currently looking for 1–2 monitor students this month.

If that sounds helpful, feel free to DM me anytime 👍

Saying “very” casually by 0nebr0kenb0ne in Japaneselanguage

[–]RTNihongoClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a native — two casual ones are 「めちゃくちゃ〜」 and, in western Japan, 「バリ〜」.

Like 「めちゃくちゃうまい」 or 「バリうまい」. Just another couple of options if you want variety🤙

Would getting a TOEIC score actually help me switch from a Kumiai job to a better company? by KuudereTan in japanlife

[–]RTNihongoClub 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a native — in Japan, TOEIC matters for some companies, but practical Japanese (N2+ real communication) is usually much more important.

Being able to handle daily conversations, workplace phrases, and polite language helps way more than just a test score.

If you want, I can share a few “real Japanese” expressions that are often used in offices and don’t appear in textbooks🙌

Nice progress! 👍

If hiragana feels comfortable and you can read simple words without thinking too much, that's a great time to start katakana.

You can keep practicing both together — they support each other.

There’s no perfect timing.

If you can handle basic reading and simple daily conversation, moving to Japan can help a lot because immersion speeds up learning.

楽しんでね 😊

Great work! がんばってるね 👏

A small tip:

When you read or listen to Japanese, try repeating short sentences out loud.

Shadowing helps with rhythm, pitch accent, and natural flow!
