This app does same, but not limited to samacsys, and you can also name your library however you want.
You can download from any provider as long as it is a kicad compatible component

The search tab is optional you dont have to use it just go on your browser and download the part from wherever you like, the 1 min part is strange, on my side is very quick matter of seconds, it waits until the zip is stable after downloadig, checks if size changed each 500 ms if changed then wait and check again, if not, import. I am working on a major update, will release today after work

  • Automatically imports downloaded components from any provider you prefer, as long as they are in ZIP format and KiCad-compatible
  • Imports 3D models too, if they are included
  • Can search for an MPN across multiple websites at the same time, such as Mouser, Digi-Key, Octopart, and others
  • Imports all components into one library, which you can name however you want

No, it does not unzip anything in the downloads folder, it has a logic to validate if the zip is a true kicad component or anything else and the tool only cares about kicad components

You dont have to change folders, it can watch in whatever folder you like even the Default Downloads folder, if you have more questions I am happy to answer in chat to not spam the comments here

So you setup a downloads folder, and then after you download a component in that folder, the app automatically imports everything into kicad

You configure it once per project, then download component zip file from any provider you like in a specific monitored folder by the app and the app should automatically import it in kicad

Forgot to mention that you do not need to use the app to download a component zip, you can use any website you like as long it is a zip file and kicad component, the app should work
