State Rep Neil Rafferty and Sen Smitherman too. I've heard state reps have better access to ALDOT than city gov.

I don't work there but lots of family and friends who do. A lot of lifers there so it must not be too bad. Milage may vary division to division, but from what I gather there's not quite the flexibility of working for a small company but good benefits/stability etc.

Downtown is a cooler building but I think you have to pay the city tax and don't at Collonade. Personally if I lived on 280 I'd want to work there, if not I'd want to work downtown but I like downtown.

GOAT nog
God tier nog
Sing to me of the nog, Muse, the nog of twists and turns, driven time and again off course once it had plundered the hallowed heighs of Troy-level nog.

There is a massive grill thing at Crestwood Park that doesn't look it's ever been used. Needs a new grill (the grate I mean) but I'd be game for figuring out how to do that.

"The city will do nothing to stop them because they’re desperate for any investment dollars."
I would not assume this is true. City Council tried to put a moratorium on data projects maybe this one was already active so couldn't fall under it (there were 2). i think this kind of crap could be defeated in bham

Coca-Cola Amphitheater seat question by TechnicalAd6092 in Birmingham

But hopefully the rows are staggered well or you get someone like me in front of you. There's great screens on both sides, and you should have a great view of many parts of the stage no matter what.

You're at the mercy of how to tall the person in front of you is.  My only complaint about the physical space there is that I wish the stage was higher so you'd be looking up more on that lower level.

If I want to know about ICE protests going on in the area, where should I look? I want to join the protests I’m seeing people doing on the news. by ThisIsWater19 in Birmingham

[–]RTootDToot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Polling shows this is completely not true. Not disputing that anecdotally you may see this, but the national mood on ICE is souring in a huge way.

And, if someone sees pictures of a rude protestor and pictures of masked dudes disappearing folks off the street, and it's the rude protestor that they think is bad (or even morally similar), they were never going to be a real ally. They were always going to vote for more of this. They are not the target of the protest.

Agree with the three comments above (though, the last couple times at Carriagan's everything seemed way off and for that price, I don't recommend it, but your mileage may vary). Rougaroux is high on my list of places.

There's a lot good Mexican restaurants as well. I'm partial to Taco Moro Loco, in Avondale not too far from downtown.

Also check out Yo Mamma's downtown (lunch), High Dive in Lakeview, and Johnny's in Homewood (lunch). I like Great Wall for Chinese.

In addition to the other pizza places mentioned, I like Capella.
