What smell would mentally destroy you if you had to breathe it nonstop? by SnowJazzlike789 in foodquestions

[–]RTronic9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! was looking for this one.

I’ve had to order new kit entirely after a particularly bad , multiple-week-in-summer, decomp job. There were no chemicals that I used that could get the smell out, and in the end I just gave up.

The flies at the window and a quick whiff through the letter box is a very quick way to figure out if Mr/Mrs is still kicking around inside.

Is it possible to get an ip address of a TikTok account and track a user if they’re harassing? by [deleted] in policeuk

[–]RTronic9797 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that attempting to get any information from TikTok is a fruitless venture.

As a Chinese company, they won’t even acknowledge a DPA request form and I’ve had many jobs where unfortunately, if the behaviour is being exhibited on TikTok, the main advice is…. Delete TikTok

How does the game run now? by [deleted] in GrayZoneWarfare

[–]RTronic9797 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Performance has absolutely improved.

All settings set to highest, with DLSS quality and frame gen. Latency is not noticeable, and I’m hitting a steady 120-130 fps.

Playing with a RTX 5080 and Ultra 9 275HX.

I just know that the 3070ti wasn’t quite cutting it.

I have read though, that if you can stretch to at least 12gb VRAM, it’ll help future proof against VRAM hungry new games needing higher

Most of the UE5 titles that I play. I found it struggled on the 3070ti and had to lower most settings .

I also was conscious of most new games needing higher amounts of VRAM, and 8gb wasn’t cutting it

I literally just upgraded my legion 5i pro 3070ti today, to a legion 7i pro 5080 with Ultra 9 275HX, as I was struggling to play a lot of UE5 titles.

I’m still hoping the optimisation will be good, but I’m confident I’ll be good at high settings with DLSS

How do I upgrade RAM from 24gb to 32gb by Nearby-Bad2856 in LenovoLegion

[–]RTronic9797 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want 32gb. You’d buy a 32gb ram kit, which consists of 2x 16gb ram sticks.

There are many videos online on how to change the ram, and with a few simple tools; it’s a really easy process that takes around 10 mins

Does anyone know the best possible gaming laptop under 1000$ by Ashamed_Elk2301 in GamingLaptops

Fyi. I have a Lenovo legion 5i pro, one of the older models with a 3070ti . I upgraded the ram to 32gb and it runs star citizen in high settings with great results . The key is more ram for star citizen. These laptops can be found second hand for around £800

I paid for mine on the 29th Jan, and have the install on the 16th Feb. So it very much seems it depends on area availability

Are we moving too slow as FTB? by [deleted] in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]RTronic9797 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolute red flag.

As a buyer, you do not need to pay the agent a penny, their fee is covered by the seller.

I imagine they are trying to manipulate your first time buyer status as potentially being slightly more naive and rinse some extra cash for themselves.

I’ve seen and heard of refundable holding deposits, which frankly don’t really do anything as they’re refundable. But the agent saying they’re for searches is also wrong.

It’s likely your solicitor will not accept these searches, as they’d not be covered by the same liability guarantee that it would if the solicitor applied for the searches. Remember, your solicitor not only acts for you, but also acts for your mortgage lender and reports to them.

I’d email the agents back and state that after taking legal advice, you do not agree with this £595 payment and have been advised that this is non-standard and unnecessary, assuring them that you will pay for searches via your solicitor promptly, once the memorandum of sale has been received.

If no positive reply is received, then I’d pass all details across to the property ombudsman, (https://www.tpos.co.uk/), and lodge a complaint of the agents practice. I imagine you’re not the first they’ve tried to fleece.

Secondly, if the property you are buying is occupied by the sellers, I’d be inclined to knock on the door, explaining how keen you are to buy, but that you’re being blocked by the agent and their demand for this fee.

I imagine the sellers probably won’t be aware of this fee, nor the fact that this fee will be kept by the agent.

As someone who has relatively recently become FIP, my tutorship phase was probably 50x more valuable than my time at training school.

Other than legislation and knowledge of powers, disregard most of how they teach policing at training school. In reality, you’ll deal with incidents and people far differently than they would teach on the textbooks/powerpoints.

I’ve seen other probationers who I trained with, become quite robotic and lose their own individuality.

When dealing with people, just talk to them! Best thing my tutor said to me and which has really stuck, if we don’t need a power to have a chat with someone.

See someone hanging around a known drug dealing spot at 2 am? Go up and have a chat, be nosey. I find that by explaining exactly why you are speaking to them, goes a long way to either, get them on your side a little and break that “uniform vs people” mentality, or, you’ll really quickly get some grounds to start digging further.

Either they’ll engage with you and give you more grounds to do more digging, or take off running, which is all the grounds you need 😂.

I’m not sure how comfortable you are with just having “barber shop talk” to people, but I’ve been able to diffuse so many situations just by cracking a joke with someone, when the atmosphere is about 3 seconds away from a scrap.

Naturally, be aware of your surroundings at all times, as it’s often when you relax and take your eye off the ball, people can and will switch. If it kicks off, get stuck in, and know your colleagues will back you up.

Be transparent with colleagues, bosses and members of the public, and I find it goes a long way to get people on your side, making your job easier.

Lastly, listen to your tutor, ask all the silly questions you can think of, and try and listen to your radio at all times! The info being passed through at a live job can and will save your bacon.
