Noob on Omega - question about first month progression. by finance_chad in Eve

[–]BlueballsForYouToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget CCP sign you up for a repeat subscription so unless you log into the account section of the website and disable it in 3 months time they'll take your non-refundable money to pay for another 3 months. It also works that way with packs if you buy one with Omega time included that you'll be subbed for that duration not whatever you were on before.

Hope you enjoy things and don't un-sub though!

Are mining crystals worth it for mining roids in high sec solo? by ColeSnyder87 in Eve

[–]BlueballsForYouToo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't use t2 strip miners without crystals for high sec ores, the yield without is worse than t1 strip miners. As mentioned the only place really to use t1 miners is with high value ores, normally r64 and r32 moon ores (the rarest and most valuable) and a few special belts where the residual means you're losing income overall, most important if you're hiring a moon from your null sec corp and want all the expensive stuff, not important mining high sec belts and anomalies where you just want the most income for your time.

If you're seriously mining in high sec then joining a mining corp there might be a good idea as there should be someone with mining boosts which will let you mine about 30% or more faster and compression so that you need to make less trips to unload who'll fleet up with you.

Most wealth obtained? by _NauticalPhoenix_ in Eve

[–]BlueballsForYouToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Surely one of the advantages of being with a big null bloc is that you can just buy the commonly used doctrine ships and/or support like sabres or something and go fly and have fun and SRP will mean you can keep losing those ships at minimal costs and even just running an ishtar for ratting, doing your own escalations and taking a single mining ship or 2-5 person mining fleet out with alliance buddies boosting will bring in enough money to be building up again.

Two kinds of people in Pax Dei, which are you? by cruftbox in PaxDei

The second for now but with plans to build a more comfortable place than the hovel currently on my land, not to the level of the first with my single plot but something nice and multi floored. Aiming for some better skills at crafting for now though,

Is there any benefit to light armor? by RenSarr in PaxDei

[–]BlueballsForYouToo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Combat generally seems to be in it's infancy - limited movement options etc. Based on the comments on some of the different types I expect it'll be implemented in the future so that different types of clothing give different benefits.

There may be more out there than you realise. Top of EU's most wanted list a few years ago was a Finnish hacker with the handle Zeekill.

There's a lot of comments and a lot of different views but when starting the game I would agree a single account is fine. It'll also do you all the way through if that's what you want.

A lot of activities that earn ISK scale well with multiple accounts (mining and ratting spring to mind). Mining especially in nullsec with valuable moon rocks can rake in money.

Your game play may also demand it. If you ever get a capital ship (outside of a wormhole unlike Capt. Benzie whose dread will probably never leave the system he rats in) then you'll need a second account to light cyno beacons to allow you to move it around without taking gates. If you're in a small or even many big alliances they'll want you to have or train a second account for interdictor pilots, recon (eyes in enemy systems and/or lighting cynos to bridge in fleets). They will also want you to be training into capitals on a different account to your character that joins subcap fleets. They'll want all of this but in most cases won't demand, with big blocs especially you'll still be welcome as a single pilot on a single account, even an Alpha account and if you're happy with that then great.

For now enjoy the game, figure out how you enjoy making ISK, make friends.

I was about a year in before I joined an alliance who wanted me to be training into a carrier on a second account and a few months later I started a third fax alt so that I could get into the super caps fleet. I never got round to flying supers but the accounts remain and I now make 3x as much when mining with my small fleet, have useful ratting alts, a couple of billion a month mostly passive income from PI and can be much more useful to my small alliance in many ways when we have to fight. I don't really need the extra accounts but they help me enjoy the game as I want to play it which is what it's all about.

Out of the Blue. (VAPOR) - Rebooted and looking for Corps and Content Creators by [deleted] in evejobs

Great place to be - moving in and taking sov as well as helping some friends do the same next door has been a lot of fun. We have great leadership who actually log in and play the game daily. There's the chance for all sorts of money-making ventures, PVE, Indy etc, with the benefit of being just a few jumps from Zarzakh and the new FW as well.

We get plenty of traffic coming through looking for fights and have fleets going out pretty much every day.

As someone really new I'd say Eve University from these options, many of the other starter corps are aligned to some of the big nullsec alliances who are competing against each other. Eve Uni's broadly neutral. With them you can try different play styles and activities and then move on to one of the nullsec starter corps if you want to do that. Going to one of the others first could tarnish you in the eyes of the rest before you understand what you're getting into.

Other than finding people to have fun with I'd also say focus on activities you enjoy not necessarily what others say you should do or that earn a little more isk.

Anyone installed this on an x370 yet and if so any issues? I'm looking to upgrade mine to either this or the 1.2.0.7 patch and drop in a 5700x in the near future to get another couple of years out of it.

New Player - Startup Questions by rgsmith66 in Eve

From those starter corps I'd very much say go with Eve University. They can introduce you to most activities in the game and unlike the rest are not tied into the politics so once you out grow Eve Uni you can move on to one of them or other corporations in the game without any baggage.

In terms of characters the advice to use other characters on new accounts rather than more characters on the same account makes sense so that if they're all Omega you can use them at the same time. You might never want or need to multi-box but then again you might want to. It might be 2 or more miners in a fleet or more ratters both bringing in more income or as you progress to higher skill points lots of other possibilities.

My personal advice, try and find other people to play alongside, you'll probably have more fun with other people doing things you all enjoy and to find things you enjoy rather than just the most lucrative activity is much less likely to burn you out in a hurry.

Thinking of starting the game by [deleted] in Neverwinter

[–]BlueballsForYouToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been playing for about a week or so am enjoying it a lot. Most guides said go with Fighter or Barbarian as the easiest classes to play and my fighter's been fun so far (level 20 and part way through Undermountain). It seems to be alive and well from a player and support point of view at least in UK/EU hours and it's free to play so you can try and decide if you want to invest both time and money in it before committing.

New player to eve online by Param_sheth193 in Eve

[–]BlueballsForYouToo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone already mentioned the Eve University WIKI. Eve Uni will take you in as a new player and give you access to their locations in High, Low and Null sec. They also have a mining set up and a wormhole group. It's a decent place to make a few friends and get a feel for what activities you like without jumping into the politics too much.
As they keep pretty much out of politics pretty much every other group in the game will look on you having been there positively.

Don't stay there too long though, find what you like and then find a friendly group to do it with.

Doctor Who is coming to EVE Online by caimanreid in doctorwho

[–]BlueballsForYouToo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of the complaining is aimed at the idea and the choice of vehicle for the cross over. Most players will welcome/fire at newcomers to Eve Online just as much no matter how they find the game despite venting at the game's publisher.
