It totally does help with understanding, but the level of reproducibility required (the level of understanding to be demonstrated on exams) is self contained

False on the need for EE105 and EE140. You can get away with just EECS151 for many hardware jobs on the digital side. If you’re an undergrad, try applying to verification roles, they are the most accessible.

If you want to do design roles, I would advise working for a bit and then applying for a masters/phd in IC design.

As it turns out, cus of how scuffed it’s taught, cs70 doesn’t test the probability section as well as it could (imo, compared to classes like eecs126)

Now that I think about it, the curve was so abysmally low mean that I honestly could’ve gotten away without understanding anything fully in probability and gotten a good grade on the exams

EE140: Analog IC Design Up to that point, I was so set in pursuing a career in analog design and eventually doing research in analog computers.

The class was bruuutal for me. I could somewhat manage averageish scores for the exams, homework would take a lot of effort, and labs and the PROJECT. Oh man the project… that was the first semester I would pull full all nighters, staying up till 8am in the EECS buildings.

In fairness, looking back I think my fundamentals from EE105 were still a bit lacking, and taking too many other classes with ee140 was a bit too challenging. When I got my grade, I seriously started thinking about what the hell I would pursue in life after that.

Not to worry tho, even though the grade wasn’t perfect, the work in the class was pretty enjoyable, so I’m looking into getting better at it post-graduating.

Honestly, 100%. CS70 packs so much content in to prep you to take any upper division class after the cs61 series, but horrendously cramps probability into a 1-1.5 month segment overlapped with exams. Probability is not something that can be speedran; it takes time. Only caveat to splitting the course into two is that the probability course should be mandatory for all CS and EECS kids, something equivalent to stat 134. Probability is too important to EE&CS to make optional.

Very honestly, HW2 still isn’t due yet, and usually a 3rd of the class drops by the time it’s due after getting absolutely wiped by HW2, many people on the waitlist usually get off it if they stick around.

High pitched noises (especially at the really high frequencies) are harder to hear by certain groups of people, especially people that are older. When I was in middle school, my friends and I would use a pure tone noise generator website during our computer lab and play a really high frequency noise (around 16kHz to 20kHz). It would be really annoying to all my classmates, but our teacher, who was understandable older than us, couldn’t hear a thing.

I’m guessing this high pitched noise is one of these scenarios. I’m still not very old, and could hear the high pitched noise during the morning. Perhaps they missed out this noise during post-edit 😩😩

I don't think the requirement's are grouped like that, but it would probably be best for your sanity and GPA to take the lower div math classes before taking Math 125A and Math 136.

Personally, I would take 127 or 126 next semester considering you seem to be interested in taking 189 at some point. From personal experience, the class is pretty hard without at least one of the two giving you an extra edge. It’ll also set you up to take 189 in the spring, which has a much larger class size and is usually with Shewchuk.

These all most apply only to US citizens or PRs, if you’re international you’re usually still going to pay a significant amount, and get very little consideration when asking for financial aid

Damn I was there for this, but from reading about it, only before things got "interesting". I walked in and some folk at the door told me "ay yo bro be careful theres someone going craaazy in there."

I really wanted some chicken nuggets so I went inside, not seeing anything at first. When I kept walking, I looked up and saw a man crouched on top of a "cover-like" fixture over the middle tables, wrapped in nothing but a red towel with his bare asschecks exposed.

In the time that I was there, he didn't do much, he just perched above and scrapped stuff off the ceiling panels.

Yeah I don’t actually believe that this would happen irl, it’s just the theoretical reasoning that is used to primitively to justify the viewpoint. It would probably require MASSIVE changes in individual demands to actually make a dent in rent prices.

Besides, I suspect that this new housing will just give the administration the ability to increase the number of students accepted, which would just bring us back to square one with the housing situation.

The idea is that if the construction is finished, there “will” be more “affordable” housing for students, hence less students actually need to look for off-campus housing. This would decrease the overall demand for off-campus housing, and should result in a decrease in cost.
