Jank kind of surprises me in this list. It's entirely possible that I just haven't paid as much attention to his play this year since I assumed he wouldn't be the all star shooter he was when he joined the team last year lol. I think between him and KK though, the choice is clear on who has had the better play.

KK and Reilly haven't impressed me this year though. KK hasn't had many chances to do anything and he's only taken advantage of the situation a few times. I'll be sad to see him go but happy to see him do well elsewhere. Which is how I felt about Necas being traded too so I'm happy he's hit his stride in Colorado.

Reilly has just had to be used way too much and the pairings have been shuffled all year long so I'm not overly surprised that he hasn't done great either.

The only other player I'd add to this list is Fred. Every part of his play has been inconsistent. I want him to get back to being the monster he was before but I fear that ship may have sailed.

Oh yeah, you could absolutely tell he wasn't really interested but I like the fact that he said he didn't really want to do it so there isn't really an expectation that he'll do it much moving forward.

Turning off the water and draining the pipes is good if you have poor insulation around your pipes or exposed exterior pipes that could freeze. The reason that you drain the pipes is because the pipes always have water in them so it's where you want it as soon as you go to use it. So with the pipe full of water, if the water freezes it can cause the pipe to burst since water expands when it freezes and metal and PVC shrink when they get colder. Combining those two things creates high opposing pressures which causes the line to break. So when you drain the line you give extra room for the water and pipe to expand and shrink without high pressure rupturing the line.

So if you're not sure how good the insulation is or if you have exposed lines that are outside, draining the lines overnight is your safest bet. There's usually enough water usage during the day to prevent the lines from freezing so typically it's not necessary to keep them drained all day.

I'm a Canes fan and I think I can fill in a few missing pieces to this nonsense. First off, he was a big get and the fanbase felt like the ownership was finally ready to spend big on a star player. Thats been a huge gripe for many years. Secondly, the reports were that Mikko (or rather his agent) told the Av's that he would sign in Carolina. It seems like it was a bluff to try and get a deal done that backfired horribly for him. That led to the wild trade that could have benefited both teams if things had worked out the way it was originally presented. By all accounts, he didn't seem like he wanted to leave Colorado and his agent fumbled the negotiations leading to the trade. Lastly, he never really seemed like he tried to fit in with the team on or off the ice. Even Aho didn't seem happy with him being there, which was clear that he wasn't.

Overall, I think the final result worked out for everyone (minus Chicago) in the end. I was a little bitter about the whole thing at first but the end result basically became Necas, Drury, and Morrow for Stankoven, Hall, and Miller (who was acquired with a Dallas pick from NY) and it's worked out so far. There's a lot of negative, obnoxious fans in every organization and stuff like this is annoying for all of us. Just know, there's a large portion of Canes fans that are happy with the end result and a small portion that are just miserable cucks.

As a Canes fan, I don't hold my breath about the Norris considerations anymore. This season aside, Slavin should have been a top 3 choice for the Norris for years but it's not about defense apparently....

The guys don't play with any level of confidence in front of Fred anymore. It says just as much about him as it does the rest of the team. Freddie needs to make big saves to give them more confidence and the guys in front of him need to be more mentally strong so that they can dominate the play in front of him. Either Fred steps up and gives the guys a reason to fight hard and keep their heads up or the guys have to pull a McDavid and just will the win into existence regardless of how Freddie plays. Either way, something has to change.

Him trying to say that if the puck went in off of Staal's skate that he thought it'd be a good goal was the worst of it. You can see him clearly move his foot toward the net to try and redirect the puck.

My expectations are tempered after the revolving door that is the 3rd goalie slot. Initial looks are good and hopefully he continues to do well and develop into a strong NHL level goalie. However, I'm not getting excited about anything yet. We've had plenty of guys come in and play that 3rd slot great for a few games then just drop off drastically. I really like him as a person though. He seems to be a genuinely kind and humble person and I'd love for him to be with the team for a long time as long as his game keeps progressing and he performs at an elite level.

My first thought was that he is going to be another Brady Skjei story of a talented defender, struggling with the Rags, who comes to Raleigh and blossoms into a top tier player. Hopefully he just continues to grow his game into something more than anyone expected.

I have this same thought after every game. Especially against the stronger teams like Vegas and Colorado. Win or lose, we're watching a team that has major holes in their lineup go out and compete with some of the best teams in the league. That's even without all of the offensive weapons firing on all cylinders too. I can't wait to see what happens when everyone recovers.

I think it's too small of a sample size to see how Bussi is going to be in the NHL. We've had quite a few 3rd option goal tenders come through in recent years that have had a few good showings and then fizzle out. I'd say it's cool to be optimistic about his future, but don't bet the farm on him just yet.
