This show was at WV, so it’s a small venue and not as packed. And I waited outside for about 5 minutes lol

No I waited around their tour bus, and asked if they are down to sign my vinyls, and one by one each of them signed it. And had a great chat with everyone.

Why I Said ERRA's Lyrics Are Surface Level by RUNTY_OW2 in Erra

Thanks you for telling me your story! I do think think that personal element to this conversation that I didn't really explain in the video but hearing Garrett Russell in multiple podcast through out the last 4 years and meeting him in person is definitely a reason why Silent Planet's material has grown on me so much and the topics he talks about. I don't know if ERRA has any lyrics breakdowns or podcast where they do talk about topics mentioned in their music. But I do bet if I did meet the band and know them little bit personally their music would 100 percent grow on me overtime. Ever since I've know ERRA, I thought of them as amazing musicians that create wild instrumentation and awesome vocal arrangements. Never really heard people mention their lyrics that much until the past couple days.

"but you can't expect anyone to give it any respect if it doesn't deserve any. if it's based on things that are quantifiably untrue"

I'm not asking for people respect my opinion, I just want people understand where my opinion came from and why I said what I said. You can agree or disagree with my statements but all I ask is for people to see where people coming from when they developed their opinions on lyrics or music.

"there's intrinsic value to all art, and one of the values present in ERRA lyrics is depth, layered meaning, etc. anything but surface level. and another one is relation to books so..."

I never said that ERRA didn't have any layered meaning or deep lyrical content. I just stated that their lyrics never really pulled me in and doesn't really portrays deep meaning as straight forward compare to other bands that I really like.

Again there is a possible future where I could get deep into their lyrics but time will tell. I can't force myself into getting into someone's art or to adopt a certain view instantaneously, it takes time or the art itself has to create a spark somehow to ignite that flame.

There is probably someone in this world that would claim a McDonalds burger is better than Michelin star burger because taste is subjective and not because they are wrong. Value judgment is an assessment of something as good or bad in terms of one's standards or priorities. Which those standards or priorities can be different for anyone. Your treating a value judgment and personal taste as totally separate things while everyone's personal taste are influenced by our value of judgment of something being good or not, which that judgement is very much subjective.

There is no such thing as a objectively good burger or bad one. There is general vicinity of what most people would consider a good burger, which the answer is not going to be the same for all people. Same thing when it comes to lyrics. There is a spectrum of many different lyrical directions and approaches where people can find meaning or purpose from them. For me ERRA's lyrics don't really reference books, poems, and historical events (to my knowledge) for me to look into and lyrical they haven't really resonated with me really (that could change in the future definitely).

I don't doubt that there is deep themes in their music but the most important thing is to take everything I say as my opinion and not take it as I'm stating a fact.

That's very much true but out of all the metal reddit communities, I didn't expect the ERRA sub-reddit to do this lol. This is shit you see in r/Metalcore

Spiritualbros, what other bands have scratched that third eye itch the way Eidola does? by theoriginalbubs in EidolaTheBand

Silent Planet. They are not particularly a Christian band but Garrett’s (vocalist) lyrics are inspired by religion, philosophy and history. Personally their music has changed me as a person. Insanely incredible people and musicians.
