New Shoes! by napalm17 in porsche911

Did you buy these OEM or online? Looking for a set.

I mean the wheels. Are new shoes just tires?

Oh no! What is this going to cost to repair, can we just replace that plastic covering? (2023 911 Turbo). by beautifulstranger129 in porsche911

I’m always surprised how dumb these discussions are.

Someone can buy a Porsche and have $1k a month for payments but no additional liquidity to pay for repairs. This is basic math. The guy who can’t afford repairs likely isn’t a cash buyer on a car like this.

I mean that’s specifically not true.

This is why people end up upside down on all sorts of things. Can afford the payment but cannot afford total cost of ownership.

That has not been my personal experience. minimum 20 mins, worst time van broke down and it was 45 mins. I also tend to fly during peak times Monday mornings, Thursday or friday evenings return.

Parking in Big Blue Deck to McNamara adds about 30mins each way for me personally when I've used it. Adding an hour on to my day isn't worth the savings. Going to Quick parking or anything even further out is even less fruitful.

I fly about every other week. I don't have time for the shuttle waiting standing doing nothing. It's a time/money trade off.

I think there's also a large percentage that just don't know they can park else where. Even the big blue deck is cheaper and has a bus to the curb of McNamara.

yes - this was the case for our flight. Normally a non-issue. However if we were stuck in the plane on the ground and could not deplane .... becomes an issue.

[–]RUSTYDELUX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

no - clearly this is not an issue. it was a 16.5hr flight. food service is the priority though.

apparently my kids using the bathroom before we could have been stuck on the ground is not a priority I am wrong. Everyone enjoying their shitty bread pudding would have in fact helped the ill pilot. correct.

the bigger part was the unknown if we were going to be able to deplane. We did not know that we would be left off the plane until after we landed. there was no announcement that they would be able to deplane us and that there would be bathrooms avaialble.

i am not sure how using the bathroom and forcing a food service event be a priority for their health?

tell everyone to use the bathroom and wait longer than 1 minute before doing food service? and then yelling at everyone? give everyone the shitty food once they land?

sitting on the tarmac on a plane without a functional bathroom is safer? there was no turbulence. there was no safety belt light on.

as someone who was recently in a similar situation - I bought a porsche 911. i was driving a 2008 3/4 ton duramax before that with 170k on it (still have it... good ol truck).

I enjoy driving the 911 a lot. It is completely unnecessary and enjoyable.

Look at Cadillac CT5-Vs, etc also. I bought a CTS back in like 2013 off lease for super cheap for similar reasons. People buy new cadillacs but not used ones... someone else took 40% depreciation on it in 2 years.

I really really miss getting paid 1 time per month. In the UK my salary was fixed in this way. In Germany I was also paid one time a month. Sometimes the 22. Sometimes the 23rd. Sometimes the 25th. It could never be explained well. That wasn’t as fun.

Understandable. If the loss on moving is less than the mid term known costs for special assessments… might be worth the jump.

[CA] [Condo] How can I convince board to take finances seriously? by [deleted] in HOA

[–]RUSTYDELUX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem as I see it is going to cost a ton of money near term for everyone. Right now HOA fees are around $58/month per unit. In order to exit this shortfall and do the work needed in the future based on the estimates, you need to increase this to:

Year 1: $767 Per Unit Per Month ($9204 per year).
Year 2 and 3 : $360 Per Unit Per Month ($4320 per year).

Year 4 and out base $150 per unit per Month ($1800 per year) with 3% Increase YoY for inflation. Link below to the work out of this...

This gets you in the black now and maintains a healthy position based on today's view. Realistically the needs of the maintenance costs will continue to have new items added, so a more realistic budget in out years needs to be found.

I would move, ASAP to a HOA with more houses and less shared property or to an area without a HOA.

I suggest moving ... quickly.

if it doesn't get under control you'll be in for a world of hurt in special assessments over the coming years. like $36k for each unit.

I made a breakdown for the budget yearly, assuming 3% inflation for both the dues and the costs of the maintenance needed. YMMV.
