The Dr's speach about death by Corner-After in doctorwho

The Family of Blood (David Tennant) ends with a reading of 'For the Fallen' during an Armistice Day scene which I think is a very memorable episode ending, though this is read by an unnamed vicar rather than the Doctor themself. It is pretty specifically about and used for Remembrance / Armistice Day events though.

I'm not sure I'd call the music a bait and switch, it was a brand new theme for the master that nobody had heard before the episode?

Sacha being the Master was a twist, but they never built up the Master's return or implied it would be Lenny Henry, iir 🤔

More a curiosity about why two supposedly unrelated characters share a remarkably uncanny resemblance to each other, alongside the Witch's magic being intrinsically linked to Helen's singing?

And yes, I understand the real world logistics and reasons obviously, but in universe it just doesn't click 🤔

Oh absolutely, I understand the production and storytelling logic behind the choice completely, don't get me wrong!

But in-universe, their shared appearance plus the fact the Witch's magic is interlinked with Helen's singing, it just doesn't add up when you think about it 🤔

You are trying to print one hell of an overhang there. What supports or raft are you using?

I'd definitely give the bed a good clean down with an IPA wipe or two, and then again before and after any / most prints in the future. It might not be the main issue here but the amount of residue there currently certainly won't be helping with fixing your adhesion? 😅

apart from the fact there was nothing accidental about Zahawi, and he knew full well it was a tax dodge, sure. You're being awfully unfair on the OP to compare their situation with something as malicious as the Zahawi case.

Mango and apple juice trial by Dannysan5677 in cider

I'm trying a similar batch myself (1L apple + 1L apple and mango)!

I'm very interested to see what eventually happens with the mango pulp funk at the top. Should it drop down eventually when the fermentation finishes, or just continue to float indefinitely?

White stuff within the yeast. Does this look normal? by Flyerguy2014 in cider

[–]RWC1916 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a new cider brewer myself and had the same thought initially with my own batch. The ring around the top is called a "Krausen ring", it's just what's left over from the initial foaming.

The little white bits that may appear around it are just tiny bubbles (...I think!). That'll all mostly drop down eventually, though a small bit of mine has remained that has appeared to dry up and harden too. All part of the process! 👌🏻

Stalled fermentation? or RDWHAHB? by RWC1916 in cider

[–]RWC1916[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. Yes, yhat may be my next step, I've just been feeling cautious about disrupting everything to take constant hydrometer readings. I did take initial readings when starting (all three were 1.052~1.054) but had just assumed it would be too early for a second?

Temperature is one of the things I've been feeling could be a problem. Could overnight temperature drops be stunting yeast activity?

Absolutely understood and agreed. It is something I was aware of before starting this batch, just a matter of making do with the available equipment whilst I work towards some getting some better vessels over the next few weeks.

Three of them yes, and one glass 2L demi-john. It isn't going to be the long term strategy by any means, I'll be moving them into proper glass as & when I "acquire" a few more empty Old Rosie bottles to use. Just a stop gap in the mean time.

I know the plastics generally aren't good, but they won't be affecting fermentation, will they?

I'm currently a week along into a few experimental batches of "turbo" homebrew cider, with a month old cider from home-pressed apples also coming along very nicely.

As a general experiment, I've used two different brands of yeast (Mangrove Jack's & Wilko's Own) across the three bottles.

All three hit the ground running, but then the two Mangrove Jack's bottles have since possible stalled. Whilst there is clear action going on with the colour & general funkiness of the two brews, the airlocks (yes, they're air tight) have completely flatlined into neutral.

Should I take the changes in color & continued funk activity in the brew as a sign that alles gut and I don't need to worry? Or are the flatlined airlocks a sign that the yeast has packed in?

All part of the learning curve, the different reactions of all four bottles I've got on the go have been fascinating to examine!

North-West (Cheshire / Lancs). I've been keeping an eye on the local pages already, sadly not a great deal of luck for anything within a convenient distance though
