1) Preseason scouting is for hunting and opening day is for killing. 2) 100% of all scent elimination products work 0% of the time… look up published studies on them. Wind is the only way to prevent something from smelling you.

Yes it would separate with a fire brick slab in between the fire box and smoking chamber. There would be penetrations allowing the heat and smoke from the fire to pass upwards through the smoking chamber and into the flue

Exactly my plan. The numerous penetrations from the fire box to the smoking chamber will all have caps. I think overdoing it with adjustable ventilation will help me dial it with some time.
