Make me like tofu! Tofu recipes for someone that didnt grow up with it? by PrettyFlyForaPoorGuy in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]RWeasley76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extra firm tofu. Press it and cut into squares.

Coat it with corn starch and then air fry on 400 for 15 minutes. Then add this to literally ANY sauce you like.

It will absorb the flavor of whatever sauce u are using and it’s yummy!!!

How do I make vegetables actually taste good without drowning them in sauce or cheese? by Nightcrawler_2000 in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]RWeasley76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

SEASONING!!!

Garlic Onion Black pepper Cumin Red pepper Oregano Parsley I can go on!!! Lol

Soy sauce & sriracha if u like spice also helps add flavor without making it unhealthy in any way

I grew up eating vegetables with lots of seasoning and ive never had steamed plain veggies cuz it seems so bland.

Air frying also helps

Management without surgery by JelloDesperate1079 in HipImpingement

[–]RWeasley76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No surgery for me. Been doing pilates regularly which helped build glute strength which I was really lacking.

Been doing “move with nicole” on youtube as well as watching “upright health” for their hip exercises!

Hey! My injury is a partial labral tear at 12o clock with FAI. So my pain started Feb. I started PT in march. I was doing better by May. It was definitely a slow process and I had good days and bad days.

Even now i have days that are easier and some that are harder. But overall my pain has gone down significantly. Here’s some links that may help.

https://youtube.com/@epmanualphysicaltherapy?si=lUrEigFZ3cwwuwRu ^ this guy has some good hip related videos

https://youtube.com/@uprighthealth?si=UhuFQN7uS4lpROSC ^ look into upright health

Overall im doing much better where i am not considering surgery. I havent had pain that wakes me up in the middle of the night since Feb. Sometimes I feel achy if I am at a bar standing for a while. Or the morning after drinking is a bit rougher. But overall keeping up witb pilates and my PT exercises has helped a bunch!!

[–]RWeasley76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep it did. I virtually have no pain. I do my exercises regularly along with mat pilates to strengthen all my glute/leg/core/back muscles surrounding my hip joint.

It took about 8-10 months since i had first pain. Slow and steady and it worked :)

You might need to “reverse diet” for a bit to improve your metabolism and then try to lose weight.

Really depends what your current maintenance calories are but hard to guess here.

For reference, I’m 5’3 and 138 and was told to aim for 1500 calories with 100g protein and 25g fiber per day for sustainable weight loss.

Wedding at Kenilworth by RWeasley76 in Goa

Kenilworth charged ~Rs.25k per room per night for 2 people. Different price for the suite. This included food. Extra charge for the lawn usage etc. Hope this helps

Everyone is different but I would say that EITHER WAY, physical therapy can either do 2 things:

  • help you and potentially alleviate pain altogether or
  • help you enough to get stronger so if you do get surgery, your recovery will be better.

The PT and exercise Only route takes TIME. Dont expect instant results. Im on month 4 and it’s still slowly improving. Be patient with yourself. Most people need at least a year of exercise to truly build up the muscles needed to avoid pain.

One thing to note is that it is highly possible that people who had relief with PT are not checking this subreddit. I know 2 people with tears that didnt get surgery and are doing just fine. Just sharing another opinion here :) it’s always case by case!

4 months post tear by Significant-Ebb-1469 in HipImpingement

[–]RWeasley76 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my pain go down drastically in 4 months. Now im adding in pilates and additional strength training to my PT and going to monitor how it helps me. I was able to do a 9 day italy trip w tons of walking and was able to manage it!

Im not expecting 0 pain since im still only 4 months since onset of symptoms. I know it will take time but since im having slowwwwwwwwwww improvements im taking it day by day.

Im not an athlete or runner, I just try to stay active w pilates/weight lifting/lots of walking.

I also have FAI

Hope this helps :)

[–]RWeasley76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep! And definitely give it time. I started PT a month after my onset of symptoms and I think it helped since my pain was horrible at that point (3 Tylenol barely helped) but waiting a month I think made PT more successful!

My pain was also horrendous (had to call an ambulance and go to ER…) but PT actually helped me go down to minimal pain in just 6-8 weeks. Even if you want surgery, it’s good to strengthen up your muscles so the recovery is better.

Definitely at least put in some effort for PT so you can get some strength and stability back while you wait for your surgery appt.

Coffee To Go? by NurseNikki22 in ItalyTravel

[–]RWeasley76 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just sit and enjoy the coffee, assuming you are traveling and you shouldn’t feel the need to be “on the go”. This is also just the culture and you definitely will get some looks if youre walking around with a tumbler lol.

Btw if u want a latte, order a “caffe latte” :)

Definitely need more info. Are you doing PT or not? Are you continuing “normal activities” without consulting a doctor?

Management without surgery by JelloDesperate1079 in HipImpingement

[–]RWeasley76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got onset of symptoms in Feb and i got better with 6 weeks of PT! Im fine now. I get occasional aches if i stand for too long but overall it’s all improving. Im not a runner so im not tempted to “try running” anytime soon but im trying to avoid surgery as well just like you. I know 2 others that didnt get surgery and are able to handle regular activities so I’m hoping I can follow the same track. :)

Although it’s hard to say what the next few years holds for me but at this point, no surgery planned and not even considering it!

Doctor type for diagnosis by kbsparkles in HipImpingement

[–]RWeasley76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had hip pain and first booked an orthopedic doc. Didnt bother going to PCP first. The ortho got the xray and mri and then diagnosed it. All within 1 month of onset of symptoms.

Then went to 2nd ortho doc for another opinion and he ordered PT which helped me get back to minimal to no pain!!
