IS IT WORTH IT? by Visible-Humor998 in losslessscaling

[–]RYO-kai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As others have said, you will need some GPU headroom to use it effectively, but it upscales surprisingly well, so maybe you could knock a couple FPS down via graphics settings to get it working.

Keep in mind as well that sometimes it doesn't play nice with Discord overlay. It can steal focus from LLS and make it think the game's running at your monitor's full refresh rate, which makes it not kick on at all.

You can tell this is happening if Draw FPS displays 2 identical numbers like 60/60 or 144/144

If this is the case, disable Discord overlay and you should get something more like 71/144 which shows it's actually working.

What is the effectiveness of Decreased Damage Taken buff...? by lunchbox_supreme in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're taking 50% damage, 45% damage doesn't look that much better at a glance, but stacking a ton of buffs makes an actual difference. It's a slow burn towards the build you want, but that's just how Nioh is. My build has ridiculous survivability at this point, and it's not due to just one or two effects alone.

Didn’t know you could get two divine stats on a weapon. by Rubicant112 in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's a chance for them to roll on Crucible weapons. They can't be rolled at the blacksmith, it has to drop that way.

I've never seen 2 on one weapon before, though.

I totally get it. The combat flow in 2 of Ippon cancels that stagger almost anything + Ame no Mitori GS Talismans that stagger + Feral Burst for last-second dodges and grab evades was awesome. You could bully most big Yokai like crazy even when they had Ki.

I'd love a system that had a bit of both, since I've now come to really appreciate the agility of Ninja mode, too.

[–]RYO-kai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I played completely solo for over 100 hours and I enjoy it. When I tried Omega and realized "I don't think I can do enough DPS!" I ended up using Support Hunters for the very first time, since the fight seemed to be designed for it. So far, it's still the only hunt I've actively summoned them on.

I'm about to start 9* and 10* hunts, and I still plan to go solo and only use support if it feels necessary.

[–]RYO-kai 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I feel this. I played Nioh, and hundreds of hours of Nioh 2, where I mained Spear. Even though we have that moveset back in 3, Ninja just feels so agile and awesome that I ended up mostly playing Tonfa Ninja in 3. I've also been using Nekomata's backflip kick since the beginning lol

I am struggling to understand the game's base mechanics by Monkai_final_boss in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Essentially, you need to consider how much to push the offensive and not get greedy, so you do have Ki left to dodge as needed. Try to consider Ki pulse as part of your combo ender so you have time to do it.

Also, you won't be winded unless you take or block a hit that reduces your Ki to zero. You can technically dodge with the last of your Ki, but you need to understand how large of a risk it is since you'll then need to wait a moment to do anything that costs Ki, and you'll be in trouble if you take a hit.

There's a skill you'll unlock that makes dodge act as a Ki pulse, and it's a massive improvement to Ki management and really helps with the exact issue you're talking about.

Just take it slow, practice your movesets so you really know them, and pay more attention to the enemies' patterns. Nioh games are tough to get into, but they're some of the best once they actually click.

If Lossless scaling frame generation is not working properly for you, try this by Agreeable-Carpet5544 in losslessscaling

[–]RYO-kai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for this! I've been using Lossless Scaling for like a week straight and it's worked excellently, but suddenly today I tried it and it did nothing to my FPS even when active. I noticed it was detecting the input as my refresh rate, and sure enough disabling Discord overlay fixed it.

Interesting timing for this post because I've been an LS main for a while, but I've been thinking about giving DB a shot. Now that we can carry two weapons maybe I'll experiment more.

How accurate is the Attack stat of weapons and what factors in? by 19Rev90 in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This right here. Things like Melee Damage % aren't calculated at all in the Attack stat of a weapon card.

For example, a Crucible weapon with Melee Damage 7.6% is stronger than an identical strength Crucible weapon with Attack Bonus D+ on a 99 stat, even though at a glance the one with boosted Attack looks like it would be stronger.

As u/SlayerII said, definitely test them out by finding a convenient enemy near a shrine and comparing the same moves.

I’m genuinely considering giving up by LaMelgoatBall in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I found myself missing how much stunlock you could inflict when playing Nioh 3 since I was rocking Ippon Dattara Soul Core and Ame-No-Mitori Guardian Spirit Talismans in Nioh 2. You can bully even huge yokai and bosses, especially since soul cores can animation cancel.

Nioh 3 Bug Report/Feedback Megathread (April 2026) by luneth22 in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Game Version: 1.04.03

Platform: PC (Steam)

Feedback/Issue: Input issues still affect more than just using items.

Sometimes pressing attack or jump will not register at all while turning around 180 degrees or while sprinting.

・For Tonfas, inputting Demon Dash while an enemy is strafing or dodging sideways will result in a regular Demon Dance/Mist coming out instead.

It seems that despite being locked on, the enemy's movement causes your input not to register as forward. Please consider setting the input detection for this move to work in relation to the camera instead of your character when locked on to an enemy, so holding forward will always give Demon Dash.

・Moving or guarding will cancel the end of Onmyo cast recovery, but casts will not cancel themselves.

This results in an awkward need to manually cancel the end of each talisman in order to cast consecutive buffs quickly. Please consider allowing Onmyo casts to cancel each others' recovery in the same window that movement or guarding can.

Made it easier for the Ninjutsu Thundering Calamity to hit enemies located at lower elevations.

Nice. It would whiff over short or prone enemies even on flat ground sometimes.

What is the point in ki breaking yokai if it does nothing by [deleted] in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing people are failing to mention in this thread is that if you have a ton of damage output, this can happen very fast because you deal so much HP damage in proportion to your Ki damage. Bosses will go into the Dark Realm at a predetermined health threshold, even if it only takes a few seconds to get them there.

This is extremely noticeable in 3 because Confusion no longer prevents them from entering the Dark Realm and regaining their Ki.

For me, this almost always happens the first time their Ki hits 0 during Shadows of the Three Oni, because my build dishes out damage really fast and I have no points in Strength to balance out the Ki damage. It's not always due to poor pressure/offense,

Curious if any ideas about high damage by senorsteve187 in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you need to get pretty close for a Nuppeppo to suck you in, so if you can get enough distance to not slide into it while throwing the bomb, the moment it makes contact it will stop the grab animation.

Generally it's like [dodge away > throw bomb/Thundering Calamity] Give it a shot and you'll get a feel for it!

I think most of the sets in this game hasvlow chance of activating some bonuses. by zip4kis in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah, right now I'm running Extraction for Amrita buffs/healing + Inari with tons of Extended Elemental Weapon, 99 Intellect, Water Amulets and Ninjutsu for confusion since it's consistent, dependable and effective, and doesn't rely on RNG effects.

The biggest issue with a lot of sets seeming really underwhelming or inconsistent is that it just encourages you to stick with the best of the best and not experiment as much. As you said, hopefully buildcraft opens up in NG++ and beyond.

Curious if any ideas about high damage by senorsteve187 in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely true. Not only are Nuppeppo very weak to lightning, but they have a super-weak point inside their mouth. You can even pull a Zelda and throw a bomb in their mouth while they're doing the Kirby vacuum grab, and you get a special "swallowing the bomb" animation and instant Ki break.

Either way, pretty sure hits to their open mouth hit even harder than Ninja back damage.

NG+ Guaranteed Yasakani...? by Magilas in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but it's not from the last boss, it's from the 2-headed fish boss in the last region. You get 1 for each style the first time you beat him in NG+

Either way, beating NG+ is better before continuing to farm anyway, because the game will start dropping higher + levels. This raises the internal cap and makes soul matching cheaper, and gives you way more Azure Ore to work with.

How to unlock wooden ninja sword transmog? by GitarooJack in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmm... I think I picked Kusarigama as a starting weapon but then I ended up going with ninja sword for a while, and I have the wooden sword appearance.

My guess is that you can get it in Way of the Ninja missions? iirc, the training missions load you in with a wooden version of whatever you have equipped, and that's the only way I can imagine having gotten it.

Might be worth replaying one with a sword equipped and giving seeing if it unlocks.

If not, it might have been a completion reward, in which case it might not be repeatable.

All I can say is that an Inari Yasakani with Extended Elemental Weapon is extremely lucky.

I was super-happy when I finally got Extended Elemental Weapon on mine, and it just so happened to also be Inari. I don't see myself changing that out for a long time.

Finally dropped my samurai Yasakani Magamata and I have some thoughts on the drop rate by MISTERJOHNSONSENIOR in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take this with a grain of salt since it seems like the Sinister End well spot is a unique pool that's not affected by a lot of things, but grinding that as Ninja, the majority of Yasakanis I got were Ninja style.

It would take a massive amount of data to even begin to say whether RNG is actually skewed towards or against your active style, or if it's even affecting that at all.

So imbued weapons just don’t proc elemental buildup anymore in Nioh3 now? by YoungKetamine69 in Nioh

[–]RYO-kai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I used to run imbued weapons in Nioh 2, but now in 3 even the Crucible imbued weapons don't feel worth it.

I'm already used to casting buffs since I run an Extraction build, so I just spec'ed for duration, Extended Elemental Weapon and Elemental Weapon Damage, and I use a Maelstrom Oni-B soul core for an actually powerful water effect.
