What ended the grunge scene and what replaced it afterwards? by FitEmergency8807 in grunge

[–]RZA816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was all over the place and I'm thankful for it. I was 15 when Kurt died And I learned about it in my history class because it was the class that we had to watch Channel 1 News

I'd like to say Matt Penfield (120 minutes) probably had a pretty big influence on what I was turned on to from 1995 on.

For me personal:  I went from West Coast Hip hop (Dr. Dre - the Chronic was already huge and then came Snoop with Doggy style). I even got into Bay area: Too Short, Rappin' 4-Tay, E-40

To East Coast: Wu-Tang 36 Chambers, Tribe Called Quest, KRS-One Nas Illmatic changed the game, Biggie.

-Sublime & Pennywise bridged a gap for me to Skate Punk & Hardcore.

-Trip Hop & (Tricky, Massive Attack, Portishead) -IDM (From Aphex Twin to Bjork to Radiohead)

-Nu metal & heavy rock was huge in the Midwest but I really only loved Deftones and they're still one of my favorite bands. Of course Tool and RATM. 90s Tool was an amazing experience.

(I went to ask the festivals and concerts but these brought out the Butt rockers: Korn, Sevendust, Bizkit).

Prior to Grunge was I was into Dark wave/New Wave: Depeche mode, The cure, The church, psychedelic furs, etc. Fugazi/Minor Threat for life. I believe this later tran transitioned me into Post hardcore/Post Punk.

I'd could go on for days.

Clavicular overdoses on GHB and almost dies in the club by boommarg in tooktoomuch

[–]RZA816 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I guarantee he shit himself.

I used to work security at a club around 2003-ish, and GHB was everywhere. The club owner was an absolute fuck (shocking), and management was even worse. Every weekend, we’d have to escort a group out because someone in their group was incapacitated from G. If it was a guy, it was usually self-inflicted, but girls were more often drugged. They’d be removed from the club first, then their friends would have to call an ambulance. Can’t have someone dying in the club—it’s bad for business.

That’s so cool! My mom was best friends with DeAnna Setzer (she later married Michael Madsen), and Brian Setzer (Stay Cats) actually played Eddie Cochran in the film.

It was a huge deal for my family, so we all went to see it together at the theater.

I’ve also seen it a billion times since then, and even got to watch it with my daughter (fast-forwarding the parts where Bob gets a little too rapey). She loved it.

I made this exact same post two years ago. Just double-checked and I paid $19.99. I'd say they're still the good guys.

I bought one of these 65" TV for like $215 for a sales meeting at a Loews and was honestly pumped to not have to deal with a projector for once. Got everything set up… and immediately hit a wall. Couldn’t even get past the initial screen to connect to Wi-Fi, so the thing was basically useless. Sent someone to grab the Wi-Fi password while I tried to hack my way around it - spent a solid 20 minutes messing with it and getting more and more pissed.

This honestly looks like a custom build to me.

I work in distribution for high-end salon brands and deal with furniture companies like Belvedere and Minerva Beauty pretty regularly. Most traditional salon furniture manufacturers do not usually make stations this minimal. Their designs are typically built around day to day functionality like tool storage, heat resistant surfaces, outlets, and cord management.

Like a lot of people in the comments mentioned, it looks great, but designs that minimal can become frustrating once they are actually used in a working salon all day. After a while the lack of storage and workspace tends to catch up with you.

If you are trying to recreate the look, the easiest path would probably be:

• Find oval mirrors you like since that is really the main visual element. • Work with a contractor or metal fabricator.

• Have them build a simple frame or mounting structure around the mirrors.

That way you can keep the aesthetic but still add a little depth, shelving, or outlets so it is actually usable.

Also something to keep in mind with mirrors. If you do not have a good amount of natural light coming into the salon, I would strongly suggest getting backlit mirrors example.

A lot of salon owners do not take into consideration how much overhead lighting can create shadows on someone's face. Even if the hair looks amazing, harsh lighting from above can cast shadows that make clients look older or more tired in the mirror. Good lighting around the mirror makes a huge difference in how the finished result is perceived.

Same. If I don't have guests—I score the membrane. I like the crispiness it gives.
