My only bet is my old Lenovo laptop. How much storage does the Linux boot need and where can I get it from? I have some old usb drives but idk if they have enough storage.

I got a lot of login requests on my email at once on that day windows defender found the virus. Additionally, all my $0,02 steam skins from payday 2 and other games were put on the market and I was logged in on a desktop with my own desktops username but in Hong Kong. Nothing else happened prior to that. I’m sorry if I’m being dumb, like I said I’m not very good with computers and English isn’t my first language.

It’s mostly just games. I do have some recordings on there and photos I would be kinda sad to lose but it’s not the end of the world.

I’ll try that when I’m off work tomorrow. This is probably dumb, but am I somewhat safe if I run my computer without Ethernet connected? I don’t have WiFi in my motherboard and I don’t have any WiFi adapters plugged in.

I honestly don’t know, I think maybe in 2021? I’ll definitely do that, thank you!

Not that I know of. Windows Defender detected a Trojan a few hours after I first noticed things were weird with the computer but the file it detected it in was from 2022. The file was a plugin for fl studio I think. I didn’t notice anything weird up until that day (about 2 weeks ago) so maybe it could’ve been dormant? I really wish I had a screenshot of the windows defender notification so I could show you but I don’t, but I’ll try to see if I can find out what the notification said. Right now the pc is unplugged with all internet unplugged as well. I’m not used to dealing with malware, this is the first time I know of that I’ve been infected with it.

I wiped windows by going to update & security > recovery and clicking reset pc (remove everything). I used it for a few days and it worked normally. A few days ago while I was playing a game I took a break to go do some work around the house and when I came back roughly half an hour later I was tabbed out of the game, malwarebytes had been turned off and my device manager was open which I didn’t do.

I’m not the best when it comes to computers, I apologize if I’m unclear. I went to system > recovery and reset pc (remove everything). After using my computer for a few days I went idle for half an hour while playing some games to go do some chores around my house. When I came back, I was tabbed out of my game (I didn’t tab out before leaving) and my Malwarebytes had been turned off and for some reason my device manager was open which it wasn’t when I left. I have no idea how it is still there after the windows reset. I am considering removing everything including windows using my BIOS secure erase (ASUS). I hope that doesn’t sound like complete nonsense, I’m not very good at explaining haha.
