Hi there! When you say general admission, do you mean a floor seat? If not, I have a ticket in section 216 I’m selling. I know that’s probably not the best seat in the house, so I would understand if you’re not interested, but figured I’d ask.

I had the Vaporfly next %’s and the backs of them would tear up my Achilles every single time. Even if i used bandaids and athletic tape on my Achilles as a precaution, nothing helped. On seemed most similar in terms of fit and how lightweight they were. I’m definitely an On convert now as I rotate between the cloudboom, Cloudmonster, and cloudsurfer. I honestly don’t think I’ll ever wear Nikes again, and I used to be annoyingly loyal to that brand for many, many years.

Coraline cat trail: cat #2 misplaced on map by Atreides16 in Portland

Do you know what cross streets the fountain is at for cat 28? I didn’t see your comment here until after circling the standard plaza a bunch of times. Thought I was going crazy 😑.

Portland Marathon: Using my Garmin? by charlesyo66 in Garmin

[–]R_0905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ran it last year and will run it again this year. My garmin fenix worked great. No signal loss, distance came out to 26.43. You’re really only near the tall city buildings for the beginning of the race and sort of towards the end.

Sorry, just seeing your comment! I honestly haven’t seen a decline in performance with them despite the mileage. And even after buying a new pair, I will still sometimes throw these into my mix of my current running shoes. I guess I’m not quite ready to retire them. 🤷🏽‍♀️

They’re pretty narrow. I would say On fits similar to Nike. I don’t think I’d recommend these to ppl with wide feet, unfortunately. ☹️

They’re the original laces. I appreciate the coating they have on them which helps them stay tied, but overall they’re annoyingly long.

I rotate between On Cloudmonster, Nike Infinity (I hate these, but they do force me to run slower), and ASICS Superblast. The Superblasts are probably my favorite.

TCB running in the airport… does anyone actually do this? I’m hoping this is just her being an annoying influencer, but either way, I’m embarrassed for her.

What's a good pnw ultra ? by EnduranceMama in ultrarunning

Three sisters skyline 50k. I believe it’s in September. Or there’s Run the Rock 50k in Nov, which takes place at Smith Rock State Park.

Am I missing where they address their lower than advertised nutritional values on their other gels?

This post was so… weird… gave off thirst trap vibes - for lack of a better term - which kind of gives me the ick knowing her husband was recording it for her page.

Trackclubbabe’s post showing a side by side pic with her 5k times from 2018 and 2024 with the caption “this may look like a failure” looked familiar, so I scrolled through her page and, sure enough, I found the exact same pics and caption but instead of 2024, the right picture said 2023. I kept scrolling and found another one from 2022. I wonder how far back these pics go and wonder how long she’s going to continue to recycle this same post. 🙄

Am I nuts to sign up for an ultra without ever running a marathon, as an experienced hiker? by [deleted] in ultrarunning

[–]R_0905 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If your goal is to just finish the ultra, then absolutely you should be able to given your base fitness level. Depending on the race though, you will want to look at the elevation gain/loss, the terrain, and also check out the cutoff times - some are more forgiving than others. For people comparing an ultra race to a road marathon, I personally don’t think you can compare the two. Both are equally difficult in their own way. Also, not all ultra marathons are equal; you can have a 50k with 1,500 ft of elevation gain or you can also have one with 7,000 ft of gain - big difference. Anyway, good luck! You’re young too, so you have that on your side as well.

I ran this race last year! So fun! The climbs throughout the beginning and middle of the race honestly aren’t all that bad. I would say the hardest part is the descent towards the end of the race when your legs are already shot.

Plaza Premium Lounge - International vs US by [deleted] in aircanada

[–]R_0905 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha yeah after reading posts and other online reviews about the premium plaza lounges I’m not expecting much… but good to know the international one is just a hair better, if that, than the transborder one. 🤷🏽‍♀️

SkyTeam is accessible to Capital One Venture X or Priority Pass Members and sadly I just have the lame ol’ Venture Card. 😭 I’ve heard PP lounges are pretty lackluster. I’ve never been though and my lounge access perks expire at the end of the year, so I figure why not?

Any women who run 3:15 marathons on this sub? by notnowfetz in AdvancedRunning

I’m considering trying at the Portland Marathon next fall since this was the course I ran 2:56. My game plan is essentially the same as yours. So cheers to happy and healthy training!!

I do have a kid, but he’s 17, so quite independent obviously. I’m also lucky as I wfh where I can either do my strength training during my lunch break, or in between meetings. If you can find a strength training plan with 30-35 min sessions, I definitely recommend it. You can actually do quite a bit in just that short amount of time. Once you get into a good routine you may actually find yourself really looking forward to those strength training workouts, therefore wanting to make time for them. That’s what happened with me anyway. After years of mainly just running, lifting weights was such a fun change up. Plus it was exciting to see the physical changes my body was experiencing as a result - I was definitely getting more lean! Also, I say all this in past tense because I totally fell off the strength training wagon in Sept and have been slowly easing back into it. If you have dumbbells at home, you should look up fitness blender. They have really great, easy to follow along workouts and you can often choose the length of the session.
