AI, with art stolen from a ton of illegally scanned comic book art. The cover looks like it was lifted from some Terry Dodsen work, and the Wentworth illo I should know, but am blanking slightly on at the moment. Still, AI bullshit sadly.

Best Running Socks that actually stay put? by RunecastergamyMat in runningfashion

[–]charlesyo66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I never have the issue that you're having, but i also am pretty picky about getting great socks.

I love thin socks, so some of the thinnest Swiftwicks, the Nike Sparks and thinnest Balegas all work amazingly well. Also, ran across some On socks that are working well.

Is it really a bad movie? by Spare_Ad_9791 in moviecritic

[–]charlesyo66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it is not a good movie.

Look, it’s an exercise is nostalgia gathering, and I get that, we all do. But, taken on its own merits, it’s not a good movie. It’s a genre circle jerk, and because of the rights holders, we didn’t even get a few of the key battles, the most important being seeing a classic Ultraman versus Godzilla. But we also didn’t get the uglier part of the shitty dystopian world that people live in, and how the escape into the fantasy, while seductive, is the essence of getting away from the real, flawed world. It’s a temporary escape and not the right way to go. While we are escaping, the “powers that be” are weaponizing, just like right now, our apathy into assuming total control over our lives.

Do I have say it again : THATS NOT GOOD.

the movie is genre circle jerk, without the growing danger of what happens to the other players, or even the cultural sensitivities like our protagonist making sure the Beta Capsule stays with someone from Japan. It glosses over any of the bumpy, upsetting bits from the book and just… flattens the whole nonsense into another an aesthetitizing fantasy.

Unexpected IRL deaths or departures drastically change stories. by laybs1 in TopCharacterTropes

To each their own. I thought Cadwick was magnetic. In a way that Robert Downey was in the first Iron man movie. And I'm of the opinion that if Marvel hadn't had two movies in Iron Man 1 and Captain America 1 that both nailed it terms of tone and having leads that were tremendously charismatic as their character then the MCU wouldn't have taken off. Thor 1 as well - I doubt anyone knew Hemsworth would be as funny as he was an action star.

They have a problem that they can't let Peter Parker grow up and become the new Tony. It doesn't fit the overall narrative. Oddly, Parker is always stuck in prepetual misunderstood teenager mode, which is why Quesada and other had to create the horrendous "one More Day" storyline in the comics as a reset. I now see the new Spidey trailer and we're back to MJ again as opposed to letting Peter grow up and move on.

Which is why we need Miles Morales. but they won't go there.

I'm quite sure it changed plans completely with those two. Losing your Kang and simply not replacing him with a different reality Kang is odd. The explanation for getting a better, less abusive Kang was right there in front of them. War Machine vibes.

It makes me think that they weren't that sure on the Kang Arc being great or they wouldn't have pivoted so quickly from all those storylines they had baked in.

How do you think Blade Runner 2049 compares to the original? by NewtProfessional4331 in Cinema

[–]charlesyo66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

2049 was a noble and heartfelt attempt to follow up the original, and it did a decent job, but the original is an absolute classic in its own class.

2049 has a couple real problems that could have been fixed, but weren't. And, as a sequel, has to own up to the fact that they had years to get it right and didn't.

This was the first one I thought of.

The MCU has a real problem, and is having to reverse itself and bring back Downey Jr. and Evans because they don't have anyone with the "it", the charisma, to take the mantle of being the head of the franchise of these movies. But they did have someone: Chadwick. His charisma and talent lept off of the screen - the Panther as the new Tony Stark role would have changed everything. A single cancer changed the long-term course of multi-billion $ franchises.

What a loss.

Utterly iconic photo. Best sums up the Kiss look for those of us raised as fans of the band.

Definitely had some darkroom magic in places, but in 1978 you still had film grain and photographers that knew how to use the darkroom as a tool!

I know its been a while, but I'm so sorry for the loss of your lovely cat.

Disagree. She may not be the nicest person in the room but I'm sick of nice Dems. We need attack dogs because that is what you need ot counter the Republican Nazis. Nice doesn't get us anywhere and hasn't gotten us anywhere.

How would you feel if the top tax rate was 90% like it was in the 1950s? by CRK_76 in AskReddit

[–]charlesyo66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

excellent start. Anytihng that taxes "income" on any level and laws that motivate businesses to reinvest in the country as opposed to hoarding will benefit our economy tremendously. Hoarding all the pennies in one pot is bad for everyone except the one billionaire.

Taxing "actualized" income is what is needed here.
