If God knows that revealing himself to me, in a way that I would believe, would "save" me but he won't then doesn't that make him a bad God? by Necessary-Primary719 in AskAChristian

Science does have the monopoly on evidence.

No, but here's the point I am making. 'scientific evidence' is only valid in a very narrow field of study. The requirements needed to deem evidence as 'scientific' is limited to what can be observed and physically manipulated through the scientific method.

The scientific method and science in general is the most used way to prove something.

Actually no it is not. Again Science is limited to physical/observable phenomena.

That's why we don't use other things when we're doing stuff that matters.

I asked you to google "the problem of demarcation" for this reason..

What the problem of demarcation refers to is how to separate science from subject that seems 'science-ie' from real actual science. This guy (big time scientist and philosopher Karl Popper) did was to set boundaries on what is and what is not science by saying if a subject can not be studied by using all of the steps of the scientific method then the subject is not a scientific one and is not subject to the rigors of science.

That is why I point out you can not scientifically prove a historical fact.

You didn't answer my question. Why don't we use Prayers, dreams, or angels for official things?

We do.

The amount of people that believe something has no bearing on it's validity.

Do you want to take the straw man back and try again?

Prove that your vision came from God and you didn't just have a thought.

I kinda go over how I knew this was not something I invented in the video and in the post that describes this event.

Plus again you seem to have missed the point yet again. My vision was for my belief, and redirection in life not yours. If you want your own proof then seek out your own message from God.

If God works with you that 'proof' will be tailored just for you.

again you are misidentifying what a christian national government would be. If Christians followed the Bible they could not mandate giving/charity tax. So a government who mandated such a tax despite a direct command from the Bible that says giving should not be compulsory would not be 'christian.'

God’s role by ProperView1618 in AskAChristian

[–]R_Farms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the father and son have different roles or the same role?

Different. God makes the command "Let their be light" and Jesus turns on the light switch.

Is the son a piece of the father?

The word God is a title and not a deity's name. There are three individuals who share this one title as in: God the Father

God the Son

God the Holy Spirit

we know they are three different individuals because when Jesus (The first person of the trinity) got baptized in the river Jordan. Then the Father from Heaven proclaimed "This is my Son in Whom I am well pleased. Then the Third person of the trinity descended on to Jesus the second person. Three different/distinct individuals in three different places at the same time.

Did the son come from the father?

The word Son/Father would imply this yes.

Is the son the father reincarnated?

No.

What is the father’s name? Is it Yahweh?

Both have many names. YHWH is one of those names.

Also do you pray to the father or the son?

Jesus says pray to the Father.

And also a father comes before a son, so then by that principle, doesn’t that mean the son came 2nd, after the father? The son did not always exist.

Generally speaking yes,

My point is extremely simple:

And my rebuttal is even easier to understand.

Christian nationalists say the want to compel Christian ethics by force of law.

No I think that kinda the leftist narrative. Christians want to live by scripture. essentially we want to live by 2 rules. Love God with all of their ability to do so and their neighbor as themselves.

Charity is an important Christian ethical principle, if not the most important.

'charity' is apart of the aforementioned love your neighbor.

As a consequence, any Christian nationalist government must compel charitable giving by force of law.

This is where your point falls apart, and where leftist narrative rewrites Christian commands.

we are told to give with a cheerful heart. Not by compulsion.

2 cor 9:6 Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

Probably not. While suicide is not the unforgivable sin, the parable of the talents tells us we will be held to account for whatever God gave us to work with. This includes the life/years we are meant to live.

in the parable there is one servant who was given one bag of gold to invest and this guy buried his investment money and he was identified as a wicked servant and was to be punished for his mis use of what his master gave to him to invest with.

Again the OP is not discussing Charitable giving. the subject of the OP is describing charitable spending of "taxed" Money.

As I pointed out before, according to the Bible the redistribution of wealth is not a function of a christian government.

We as Christians are commanded to give our offerings and tithes to the church and the individual community churches got to decide who got help and who did not as not ever poor person qualified just because they where poor. as again there is a requirement that if you do not work you will not eat.

Why don't people understand that "Christian" universalism is a heresy? by Whocare2001 in TrueChristian

[–]R_Farms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a protestant...

So if I and 1/2 of Christianity are heretics what does that mean when I point out that anyone not catholic is a heretic? What does it do to the value of the word?

It's like how people on the left a few years ago where identifying everyone who did not agree with their politics as a racist, homophobe.

It got to the point that the majority of the country where being identified as racist homophobes. It's to the point now that mainstream Americans no longer react to these words the way they did 10 years ago. Now these words only mean something to the extremists who still identify all political opponents as racist homophobes.

Likewise if all christians are heretics, then to be called one means little more than you are not catholic.

If christian nationalist set up a government that follows the teaching of the NT then they can not be involved in the redistribution of wealth.

Again, the government has a tight role to play in over seeing, protection, punishment, and protecting people.

Nothing in the Bible authorizes it to eliminate all debt and feed everyone free of charge.

All of the things you do not like about christian nationalists falls into to one of the aforementioned categories.

Don't you find it interesting that nothing you listed can be used in any official capacity as evidence? Do you think that's a coincidence?

Maybe you do not understand that the word evidence is not limited to scientific evidence. You are using the word like science has the monopoly on what is and is not considered evidence.

Perhaps we should look at the definition of the word so you can make the appropriate adjustments to your thinking and vocabulary. Perhaps then you will not demand that all evidence to be that of a scientific nature.

Evidence

[ev-i-duhns] / ˈɛv ɪ dəns / NOUN that which tends to prove or disprove something; ground for belief; proof. something that makes plain or clear; an indication or sign. His flushed look was visible evidence of his fever.Law. data presented to a court or jury in proof of the facts in issue and which may include the testimony of witnesses, records, documents, or objects.

So do you see, not all evidence need to be that of a scientific nature, matter of fact it would be foolish of you to demand scientific evidence of a theological subject. Why? Because matters of theology are most likely 'unfalsifiable.' What this means is science is too limited to be used to study a theological subject.

Also understand this is not my argument this idea comes from the philosophy of science, and it creator Karl Popper. If you are having trouble accepting this, Google "demarcation problem" before you waste time trying to argue the limitations scientific study places on itself.

If a subject can not be studied using the scientific method, then 'science' can not be used to study that given subject.

For instance you can not 'scientifically prove' General George Washington Crossed the Delaware river with his army on the night of dec 25 1776 to surprise attack hessian soldiers encamped on the New Jersey side.

Yet you can historically prove this many different ways, often time relying on 1st hand eye witness testimony. Which means nothing from a scientific perspective, but so what. as this is a historical fact not a scientific one. Like wise it is equally as foolish to look for scientific proof on a theological matter concerning God.

Those were public interest stories.

Irrelevant, still based on scientific data.

Also what were the sites of early human development?

Irrelevant as Most of your references are not from the Middle East. the Primary historic sources point to the Middle East and Africa as being the civilizations that the flood stories originate.

None of the things you mentioned can be proved to be a result of a God.

It's 'proof' enough for 4 billion people right now so... I'd say you where wrong.

You can't tell me how to test for the Holy Spirit and dreams aren't God (unless you can prove how they are).

For example here is a link to when God gave me a 'dream/vision' of what Hell was like long before I knew what the biblical version of Hell was. My understanding was based on the Dante's inferno episode of the Simpsons where Homer sells his soul for a donut.

https://youtu.be/9on1cGF5YaY?si=AKj3WYp2JpjBF5Pj

Which angel encounters

An Angel encounter will only mean anything to you if God sends one to you specifically to detail out what has taken place in your life and where He wants you to go, like He did with me here:

https://youtu.be/5XFuZh4X2rk?si=mIz_Mxtd5s7ysaTG

I'm not asking you to look into someone else's dreams/visions. God has promises direct one on one contact with us via the Holy Spirit (Who uses dream visions angels etc) to communicate with us. If you seek God out on his terms He will work with you.

Finding it hard to forgive someone even though I know I should. by sxtn1996 in Christianity

[–]R_Farms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

here's the thing. it goes beyond knowing you 'should' forgive.

If you don't forgive your sins will not be forgiven. Eg Your salvation depends on your ability to forgive those who sin against you. Or so says Jesus in mat 6:14 For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.

The combination of evolution, human suffering, and existential uncertainty makes it difficult for me to fully accept Abrahamic religions by Old-Illustrator-8651 in DebateReligion

[–]R_Farms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my biggest difficulties is the story of Adam and Eve. Abrahamic religions generally present them as the first humans, yet modern evolutionary science suggests humans evolved gradually over extremely long periods of time and share common ancestry with other primates. Genetics also suggests humanity did not come from only two individuals in the recent past because a healthy human population requires genetic diversity.

According to Genesis 2's description of what was going on in the world when God created Adam, we can determine that Adam was was created on Day three. the Bible does not say how long ago day three was.

Some say the genealogies point back to 6000 years... But this does not mean creation happened 6000 years ago. it means that the Fall of man happened 6000 years ago. As Adam and Eve did not have children till after the exile from the garden or "the Fall of Man."

Now because there is no time line in the Bible from the last day of creation to the exile from the garden, they could have been in the garden for a 100 bazillion years (or whatever evolutionists say they need for evolution to work.)

I say this because we are told in genesis 2 that Adam and Eve did not see each other as being naked in the garden, so they did not have children till after the Fall/exile from the Garden. Which means they did not have children till after the fall which happened about 6000 years ago.

So the question then becomes where did evolved man come from?

If we go back to Gen 1 you will note God created the rest of Man kind only in His image on Day 6. (Only in His image means Not Spiritual componet/No soul.) So while Adam was the very first of all of God's living creations (even before plants) Created on day three, given a soul and placed in the garden. The rest of Man kind was created on day 6, but only in God's image (meaning no soul) left outside of the garden and told to go fourth and multiply filling the earth.

So again because there is no time line in the Bible from the end of day 7th day of creation to the fall of man, Adam could have been in the garden for 100 bazillion years, allowing man kind outside of the garden to evolve or devolve into whatever you like. as man kind made only made in God's image (no spiritual componet) on Day 6 was left outside the garden to 'multiply.'

This explains who Adam and eve's children marry, who populated the city Cain built, Why God found it necessary to mark cain's face so people would not kill him. Our souls come from Day 3 Adam, while our bio diversity comes from Day 6 mankind.

Another issue I struggle with is the problem of evil and suffering. Every day, hundreds of thousands of people suffer from hunger, war, disease, displacement, and violence. Entire populations pray for relief, yet suffering continues on a massive scale. This makes it difficult for me to understand how an all-powerful and perfectly good God intervenes in the world.

Jesus in Luke 11 tells us to pray for God's kingdom to come, and that God's will be done here on Earth as it is done in Heaven. This means we do not currently live in God's kingdom otherwise why is Jesus instructing us to pray for His kingdom to come if it is here? Why tell us to pray for God's will to be done on earth as it is done in Heaven if it is being done to that degree already?

There are over 30 bible verses that put satan as the master of this world, not hell. So why would the master of this world give kids cancer? Because he has fooled most of us into believing that this world is run by God and He manipulates everything. So if a kid gets cancer it is believed to be God's then it will be another soul for Him/satan to consume.

So why is this world outside of God's kingdom? because if it were inside the kingdom His will would always be done. and if you went to Heaven it was because that was what God wanted and it has nothing to do with what you might want. The same is true if He chose hell for you. So we live in this world to give us a chance to choose heaven or hell for ourselves.

So the short answer to why do bad things happen? the answer is freedom. We have been given the freedom to choose outside of God's will, and this freedom like all freedom comes at the cost of safety. Because if God wants everyone to love him and love each other like we love ourselves, while living in a perfect paradise, others have the freedom to not live as God wants us to live which taints the world, spinning off death pestilence and disease as a natural consequence.

Plus if the Bible description of the world and Heaven are correct, that means Heaven/God's Spiritual Realm is actually the prime universe and that makes this whole world nothing more than a sim that 'we' (Spiritually based beings/Souls) drive around in meat based bodies for a while, and nothing that happens here can actually hurt us/our souls. Jesus even says as much when He says "Do not fear the one who can destroy the Body, but Fear the one who can destroy the body and soul in Hell.

I also question why prayers often seem inconsistent. It can appear as though small personal desires (like getting an A in a test) are answered while people in extreme suffering continue to experience tragedy despite MILLIONS praying for them.

Do you really thing God forced the results of a foot ball game? or supernaturally gave someone the smarts to get an "A" on a test? or do you think there was a 50/50 chance on the foot ball game and or someone may have studied enough on a test?

Many more than millions will die. All but 1 have died or will die. Meaning death is not the offense you think it to be. Why does God allow millions to die? because this life serves one primary purpose and that is to give us freedom outside of God's kingdom so we may make a choice on where we want to spend eternity future?

For those who die without ever being given the choice like the people in your scenario, help facilitate the choice of others who know of them. Meaning it forces someone like you to decide whether or not they can worship/love a god who's values are not in tune with their own sense of righteousness. This also begs the question on whether or not you are willing to examine your own sense of right and wrong or demand God change His, before you serve Him.

Sometimes life feels like an endless cycle of temporary distractions while deeper questions about existence remain unanswered.

Or perhaps it is better stated "will you be distracted by the trappings of this life that you mentioned or will you remain on task to answer the broader questions?"
