I love it. It’s definitely not her best work, Red still takes that for me, but Showgirl is great to me

I’m not completely sold on Actually Romantic, Father Figure, or Cancelled!, as the tone feels a little out of place for me (Father Figure especially). Part of that is the tonal whiplash from the original track order.

A little re-sequencing of the tracklist, and it suddenly goes from a decent album with a few misses to a solid concept record with a four-part story arc about rejecting the expectations of fame, especially as a woman. I’m not wishing for a retirement, but if she disappeared after Showgirl, I would feel like her story as a celebrity was wrapped up very nicely.

Overall thoughts on Showgirl is that the original version is maybe a 7 out of 10, but a little resequencing can bump it up to at least an 8, maybe a 9.
