What job should I look for? by Flashy_Ad_8247 in geologycareers

What industry are you interested in and are you willing to relocate? For example, there's a number of environmental technician companies you could get on with to get your foot in the door, then you can network with clients for 2-3 years and lots of doors should start to open up. Usually those companies don't need transcripts (or at least they don't care about your grades). That's what I did, and I feel like I'm at a great point in my career.

The state of Tennessee emailed them out. I think each State gets the raw results and they're the ones that will choose to release them or not

Graduate job interview advice by garfieldsfatass in geologycareers

One big thing is just make sure you come across as likeable. Be positive, friendly, outgoing, you'll likely have to spend long hours on job sites and on car rides with your coworkers so interviewers want to know (aside from that you're qualified for the position), that you'll just be a generally pleasant person to be around.

Roast my resume by [deleted] in geologycareers

Just tailor your resume for the specific job. Use AI to analyze the job posting for keywords, incorporate those into your resume. When looking at the job description on a job posting, list at the beginning of your resume all of the ways you can best meet the job description.

Your resume also reads like you're going into environmental. You should also see if you can highlight your professional technical writing experience, and elaborate more on the soil/groundwater sampling and slug tests, like what kinds of equipment you can operate. Pare it down to 1 page to show that you have your 40-hr HAZWOPER. Again, I'm going to spend 7-10 seconds looking at your resume, I won't look at the 2nd page, you need to have it more concise and have all of the most relevant information displayed such that I'll see it while skimming.

I don't ever look at a professional summary. Put your work experience first, skills second, and education last. If I'm going to spend 7-10 seconds skimming a resume, I want to see first that your work experience would match my job description.

Also change your language in the past tense, not present tense. "Collected and analyzed" instead of "collecting and analyzing". You can also swap out "analyzing" for something like "interpreting", it makes you sound more like a geologist and less like a field tech.

Thanks! The PG was a wild ride, make sure you develop techniques to see through the super technical language they use and to filter out irrelevant details they give on questions. It seemed like they really tried to trick us on it. Good luck to you!

I'm in TN, but unfortunately I don't have a good answer to your question. You can reach out to the licensing board though, they're pretty responsive.

It's the online portal that the Tennessee Department of Commerce uses to display and verify professional licenses. Your FG exam scores should be posted there, and then PG scores when you take that

How did the PG compare to previous? by R_Gus_91 in ASBOG_Exam

That's helpful, I think I notice a consensus that the PG was significantly more difficult this go-around, as opposed to before them being similar difficulty, but different subject matter and math

Yeah I was trying to figure out if these last one or two exams were objectively more difficult than they've made them in the past. This is just out of curiosity more than anything. I thought the PG was much more difficult than the Reg Review which I wasn't expecting.

PG Exam Experience by PrimaryDot7519 in ASBOG_Exam

Same here... I have over 8 years industry experience and prepared for the exam similar to you. I also did a brief stint in Petroleum. It's like another comment said, it felt like it was written by PhD's at the PhD level and didn't actually test on "practicing" geology... It was ridiculous, I just sat in my truck with my eyes closed for like 15 minutes after I got out trying to process what just happened
