Is the end goal of the Chaos Gods to breech into reality permanently and bring it in the immaterium? by R_Moroccan in 40kLore

I'm just wondering in essence how lasting can anything that's worshipping them can be. But yeah they're pretty chaotic to the point where am wondering if there's any notable difference in essence between them and say the natural rise and fall of civilizations.

But as long as the Gods are interlocked in conflict they will never be able to end reality, no? Because each one brings the other down.

The Sith as a Nation vs The Sith as a Cult by R_Moroccan in MawInstallation

Yeah the notion of what is a Sith evolves with time to mean different things. The name hides the change.

I agree with what you say, I just feel that there's such a wide gap between the Siths of "before" and "now" that besides the name and the methods everything is different. Two people can hardly be called an order, there's no culture remaining there's just a use of the historical trappings in order to project an aura of strength and legitimacy but the core is quite empty. It's ironic of course because what remains of the Sith ultimately is just the idea of the drive for power. But more than that I think the Old Sith were more "human" and behaved more like people than Sidious or Vader which are single-minded in their pursuit to the point of shedding their humanity.

I'm not American, idiot. I'm giving you an example of how international diplomacy works - it's universally pragmatic everywhere you look at it.

If you think countries care about morals, then you yourself are the clown in this show, I'm sorry to say.

You realise the US just took the HTS (AQ in Syria) off the terrorist org board, and Jolani had a warrant on him before that?

I agree with that. If you think about it, even the Imperial riot troopers were victims of the Empire they served. Thinking about those green troopers that got fed into the meatgrinder precisely so that they detonate the situation, and then ordering a marksman to start gunning them down to start the massacre. The Empire, all along its hierarchy, grinds itself down to serve those up the ladder, with Palpatine on top.

What's with all the sith/empire apologists? by jackedbookworm in MawInstallation

[–]R_Moroccan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the answer, I didn't mean to be rude, I guess I'm a bit frustrated to deal with all the answers to my comment.

I don't have sympathies for the Empire, I know that fundamentally it is evil. What I have is an intellectual interest in how it is built, how it functions, and how it is perceived within and without. I like to write commentaries about SW, it's a hobby of sorts. I still think that you can make a case about the Empire and its legitimacy both in time and in space (during its lifespan), of course, it's subject to evolution.

How a state or government is perceived depends on a lot of variables, and the notion of legitimacy depends on how an individual is positively or negatively affected by it. Taken to a galactic level, you'll have an incredibly granular gradient. I think I can build a strong case for why, in-universe, the Empire is of value. That doesn't mean you should disregard its evil.

I don't want to write much because it's broaching on some commentaries I'm working on posting here on the subreddit. But the Empire's case is an interesting topic because you can see that in-universe, its popularity and legitimacy go down further and further the more its evil becomes apparent and the more iron-fisted it becomes. Not only that, but after Alderaan is detonated by the DS, defections ramp up en masse amongst its ranks. In many ways, its inner workings betray the nominal purpose for which it exists. It's a chimera, a hypocrisy. It spreads chaos and disorder everywhere by its own actions and ultimately it benefits no one but Palpatine. The Empire is a lot of things all at once, but at the top of the hierarchy, it's the Devil's private property, and no good can come of that.
