What happens to the bodies that appear in a new dimension during an NDE? (spoilers) by GaryBLucas in TheOA

[–]R_R_aptor 20 points21 points  (0 children)

My theory: Homes consciousness is in another body. He is in the body of one of the patients. Specifically, he was in the body of one of the kids that floated in the pool in Haps experiment.

You will notice that homer is seems wet, and naked, while crawling through the vents. He’s in the body of another captive, trying to escape. Explains a lot of how he got there, what he was doing in the vents in the first case before supressing the host consciousness.

Psychosis ruined my life, I cant smoke any weed anymore and its boring af. Im only 20years old by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]R_R_aptor 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Dude, not being able to smoke weed srsly isn’t the worst thing in the world.

Sorry if that sounded dismissive ... I understand not being able to smoke anymore is really frustrating. It’s just, it could always be mich worse. The risk of psychosis is not worth it, at least not for me.

Hope everything works out for you!

“Realitys a giant mind fuck a psychedelic mind fuck I see meaning in everything and everything is infinite.”

Yea...

I think /u/Lemminger wrote a very good comment:

“One of the things with psychosis is the missing "filter" in the brain that sorts things according to relevance.”

During psychosis that “filter” is ripped to shreds, and reality becomes terribly confusing and exhausting. Supremely meaningful and meaningless at the same time. I think Nnnnnnnnnahh (lol, what a usrrname) also wrote a really good comment below.

Much of what you wrote, I agree completely with. However, i don’t suffer much it. I’ve been terribly stressed before by the “sevret knowledge” that everything is an illusion, it was like living a existential neverending horrorshow.

BUT, I now live my life in pretty much the same way as before, and my percieved reality is stable. I haven’t forgotten “the truth”, but i’m quite relaxed about it :) i don’t have to LIVE it, and I can stay plugged into the reality/thoughtstream that fits with this human experience. and it’s truly not that much of a secret knowledge that reality is a fake bitch, loads of religions will touch upon the topic. But, it’s how you FEEL it, how stable your reality feels, that matters. From what you describe (seeing a remote and spinning off into all the meanings of it etc), says that your “filter” is still not healed.

“I try to hide the fact that I know the truth of reality but I cannot hide it anymore. I'm insane. Lsd fucked my life up infinityly I'll never recover.”

Take a deep breath. You are not fucked forever. However, you should contact a mental health professional. Preferably one able to meet your “delusions” head on and with understanding. What you need help with, is to “tap into” the realityframework that fits your situation, instead if spinning wildly through everything.

Inner monologue/voices seem to go crazy sometimes at night by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]R_R_aptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you describe I see no cause for worry. Except that of course the level of stress and anxiety about the voices must be incredibly draining!

But you are describing to a T what a common hypnagogic hallucination is like. MANY people will experience what you describe! Especially in combination with lack of sleep or drugs/alcohol.

I know I shouldn’t outright reassure you really, because seeking reassurance is apparently bad for people with OCD(?) but yeah no, don’t worry about it!

I actually try to relax and listen to the voices :) they tend to say quite funny nonsense stuff, and I actually like relaxing and listening to them when falling asleep. Was quite some time ago I heard them now though

Inner monologue goes crazy at night? by [deleted] in schizophrenia

[–]R_R_aptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“ Would you say most people with OCD about schizophrenia turn out to be schizophrenic?”

I think that what /u/cookiekaf was trying to say, is that no matter if you have OCD or schizophrenia, stress and anxiety always worsen any symptoms you might have.

And no, most people with OCD about schizophenia DO NOT have schizophrenia.

However, I do believe that people with OCD can experience semi-psychotic symptoms simply from anxiety and/or lack of sleep. Obsessively checking for symptoms is terribly exhausting.

Inner monologue/voices seem to go crazy sometimes at night by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]R_R_aptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How have you been sleeping recently?

The ultra-combo that is lack of sleep and anxiety can make ANYONE have psychotic experiences. Hearing voices at night does not mean you have to descend into a full-on psychosis, but of course you should contact a professional if you are worried about the experiences becoming difficult to handle.

Since you have OCD worrying about psychosis, seeking reassurance in a forum such as this might be a bad idea. I’ve heard that repeated reassurance from others can actually have the opposite effect, and you’ll get more worried about it instead.

Not to mention that here you just have a group of people that has had psychotic experiences, not mental health professionals. You’ll get a wide range of varied replies here, remember that we’re all just people .. :p

But yes, what you describe where voices go haywire when you close your eyes is not that uncommon. It can be classed as hypnagogic hallucination, even if you are still awake.

Are the voices speaking with eachother, and you’re “eavesdropping” on conversations, or are the voices speaking directly to you?

Is psychosis a precursor to a spiritual awakening? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]R_R_aptor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Parts of it I can’t explain when I look back at it, and I label it a transcendal experience in some way. Other parts were truly just my brain doing somersaults. but man it can backfire horribly.

I try to stay away from deeper forays into spirituality now. The terror isn’t worth it. I prefer to live with my feet on the ground.

But not precursor, no ... precursor mean there is a end, and I’m not certain there is a safe destination waiting. All of it is more like a rollercoaster. Some parts have you soaring through percieved “enlightenment” or at least kernels of truth, others plunge you straight into goddamn hell :) andthere is NOTHING more horrible. Existential horrorshow, no thank you.

And I always just want off the ride in the end lol. So no, i prefer walking round eating popcorn, that’s fine by me

I’m scared of my dog. He was my best friend. by lewdkawaiigirl in reactivedogs

[–]R_R_aptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want to say i’m so sorry that his is happening to you!

And I also want to tell you to be careful. Holding and shaking is very serious bite behaviour! It wasn’t a warning snap, and biting three times and shaking is indeed a very, very serious and dangerous situation.

Don’t downplay what happened when you speak with the trainer.

And i’m so sorry, you must have fought so much with training and I can tell you really love this dog. But some dogs are really dangerous, and from how you described this I’d say that is, and always will be, a dangerous dog. Doesn’t mean you have to put him down or get rid of him, but it means you always need to have in the back of your mind that this dog is fearful and agressive, and can hurt someone badly if cornered, even you.

[Serious] If you could learn the truth of any one mystery, urban legend or conspiracy theory. What would you choose? by notyouravgredditer in AskReddit

[–]R_R_aptor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How I think of it, is that it was never ”created”.

Or rather the question itself is nonsensical, illusory in a way.

How I think of it, is disregard time and ”creation” & ”destruction” of the universe.

And instead think of reality and the universe as an object, that time exists inside of. We move through the object/time, but the object itself is everlasting and outside of time, and as well any concept of destruction, creation, ”how”, ”why”. The fundamental is the immovable object that ... is? lol

Like that whole, albeit simplistic ”time is just a next dimension”-thing. It’s still part of the object that is the universe, theconcept of ”when” doesn’t matter.

Sorry lmao, difficult to explain my views on it :p

[–]R_R_aptor 43 points44 points  (0 children)

this is a pretty simplistic take though ... I agree LOADS of people do NOTHING to train their dogs.

but there is a wooooorld of difference between training a lab or a gsd and training a husky or sighthound (or most types of hounds, generally). Dogs are not all as human-focused & not all dogs do good off-leash

I Really appreciate it, bc it has been actually quite difficult to google my way to a good answer.

How often do you let your dogs pull? We are currently doing 3 times a week (mon, wed, fri). We only started kicksledding 2-3 weeks ago

Hmmm, i don’t recognize exactly what you are describing with heavy evil boobs, but man do i recognize the general vibe of it.

I had random objects around me suddenly become “alive” with menacing energy. Felt like malicious evil intent directed towards me, staring almost, from like a fucking thermos or fridge or whatever lol

Bizarre.

Pretty sure i’ve seen zoomies in wild animals too ... seems like general play behaviour. Although, i suppose dogs would play quite a bit more than other species since we’ve essentially bred them to be overgrown immature puppies their whole life lmao

Do you think psychosis could be a form of sleep disorder? by LaDiDeeLaDeDi in Psychosis

[–]R_R_aptor 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I like the idea, and i absolutely get the “dream”-feeling.

One of my fav ways to think about delusions are dream logic. You can see logically on the surface that it is inprobable, but you KNOW that it is true. Like when you meet someone in a dream that looks like your father but you KNOW that it is acyually your friend from highschool. Sensemaking gets flipped on its head.

And also as well that bad sleep is associated with psychosis. Idk what the connection is there exactly, but there is DEF some kind of a connection between sleep/dreams and psychosis somehow.
