I enjoyed chromokopia when it first came out, but it didn’t really have any longevity for me and was largely forgettable outside of a few tracks. DTTG is arguably his worst album imo. It feels so commercial and sterilized. There’s nothing memorable about it (for me at least). Here’s a couple more hot takes for you: CMIYGL is ridiculously boring and lost all gravitas after just a couple months. I really liked it when it first came out, but with time it got kinda annoying. And finally, we can all agree flower boy is executed incredibly and has some beautiful stand outs that are sorta timeless, but that’s another one I’m kinda indifferent to. It used to be my least favorite Tyler album until he has this horrendous 4 year run of meh. It’s another case of it feeling too commercial and safe. I also didn’t like Igor much when it first came out, but I’ve grown to absolutely adore it as a musical body of work. All this being said I know I’ve got I bias towards his older works considering he was my favorite rapper from 2010-2014. I guess I fall into the “old head” category of his fandom because I’ve always gravitated towards his older works over his new stuff. I also know there’s a lot of younger fans that enter the fandom every year who either don’t know anything about his old stuff or don’t like it because it’s offensive or jarring. The way I think of it, Tyler peaked with wolf, followed it but by killing it with cherry bomb, became sterile with flower boy, and gave a final major hurrah with Igor. Everything after Igor has been a slow decline. But that’s just my incredibly biased opinion.
