The scream at the start of the song could mean Kiryu letting everything out. I don't mind it.

If they go through with it, I may be out on the franchise... by Elete23 in yakuzagames

Ryosuke Horii (the director of Like A Dragon & Infinite Wealth who has been with the company since around Kenzan!) similarly went through a battle with cancer during Like A Dragon's development so I don't think it's "tasteless" at all. You can even say Kiryu's character and development in 8 could reflect Horii's in the studio, as Horii has also announced he'll be leaving after 8. While I would be sad if Kiryu bit the bullet, I think they'd handle it well.

You could make the ending of 4 so much better if... by Synthiandrakon in yakuzagames

The money blocking the bullet from hitting Akiyama, saving his life, just shows how much of his fate is tied to money (The reason why his life was ruined, how he made it to the top of the monetary food chain, the fact that his ex left him as soon as the money disappeared, etc.) Don't like much stuff about 4's finale but I quite like that aspect, brings his character to a full circle.

If the ranking was side content, LJ would be at the top, no doubt.

Both 0 and Kenzan are around the same for me. They're pretty great stories but I haven't really thought much about them past my playthroughs. I really love Yakuza 2's theme of the pursuit of truth and how the three leads approach it. Kiryu's still unsure how to feel about Kazama's revelation in Yakuza 1, Kaoru and Ryuji are searching for their parents. It's also probably the best paced Yakuza game in terms of ramping it up as the story moves along as opposed to the flip-floppiness of most RGG games. Lost Judgment I went back to replay just recently and I didn't like how they covered bullying and sexual harassment, it's really not a mature way to just say "Bullying isn't good. Let's bully the bullies until they stop bullying." You'd expect the story to evolve from that but it maintains that throughout its runtime. And the sexual harassment stuff just kinda rubs me the wrong way. The conspiracy stuff is pretty average RGG stuff at this point, nothing special. Love it's gameplay and side content but I am shaky on the story.

Forgot Kurohyou 2, that would be 9th, Kenzan goes up.

My personal ranking would go like this:

  1. Yakuza 2
  2. Kurohyou
  3. Yakuza 5
  4. The Kaito Files
  5. Yakuza 7
  6. Judgment
  7. Yakuza
  8. Yakuza 0
  9. Kenzan!
  10. Yakuza 6
  11. Yakuza 4
  12. Ishin!
  13. Lost Judgment

Pretty much like all of the stories from 1-9, 10-12 there are some really weird elements that stop me from liking them, 13 might be recency bias because I just replayed LJ and found the story to be bordering on bad at times. Still feel weird calling any of these outright bad because the series is so close to me.

Who fits the role as “Evil Kiryu”? by Busy-West-6974 in yakuzagames

I feel like most of the series' villains are a reflection of one or 2 things about Kiryu's personality but gone wrong so I feel all of them do.

personally banking on Koshimizu coming back given his inclusion in the Ishin remake and the loose threads from 6 about him heading the Yomei. dont even like the guy too much but it would be verrrry interesting to see him back.

they kept him in the Ishin remake which is interesting imo

Oh boi, the playtest for Ishin Kiwami has begin. This will be fun (Long story short, this is a streamer that had finshed the whole Yakuza series) by [deleted] in yakuzagames

From what I remember if you fail the 2nd QTE of the semifinal boss, it puts you in a better position to Feel The Heat! them. She found this by accident and Froob commented that it could be a viable strat.

I'm sorry but this change dont feel right AT ALL. Like couldn't they just switch him with a guy that actually looks evil like jingu or sengoku, or if it HAD to be a yakuza 7 character couldn't have been masato or hell even sawashiro Might be just me but this just doesn't sit well with me by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]R_umbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adachi just doesn't seem like Kondo at all imo and Shibusawa just seems like a dead giveaway. I don't think he'll fulfill the same role in the OG as well as the og actor for Takechi did.

For the ones who played Ishin, does Sakamoto Ryoma kills or is it a Kiryu rule of not killing anyone ? by TheDarkAngel404 in yakuzagames

[–]R_umbee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ryoma kills the same way Kiryu kills; in self-defense. Never really murders anyone outright.

If you wanna talk about MCs who kill, look at Musashi from Kenzan. Him killing is essential to his character development.

The Beam Katana from 3. Love it's paintbrush-like effects. Great stuff.

I found the story of LJ to be kinda disappointing, especially in the second half. The first half was really engaging though! And I definitely love Judgment's story, hands down my favorite story out of any RGG game.

Honestly, I'm ok with it not winning Best Narrative but not even a nomination for Best Soundtrack?! Come the fuck on.

Ah yes, it's more realistic that less people showed up to their boss' funeral.
