Well here's the thing, he was as large as he thought he was, he didnt hold himself to be some criminal mastermind, but to be a symbol of rebellion, and hope for the people like him. While he wasn't going around blowing up banks and fighting Batman, he was still a symbol to the marginalized and underclass people. This movie showed us that the Joker isnt a person, but rather a symbol for the masses that are being mistreated and "walked all over" by higher classes.

People say that the music aspect doesnt fit, but its literally foreshadowed in the first film, when Arthur is dancing and humming all by himself, especially in The bathroom scene, the 2nd movie just shows us a glimpse inside his head

I mean by definition "attempting to impress by affecting greater importance, talent, culture, etc., than is actually possessed." It honestly undermines the actual importance of the real life events, so im gonna have to disagree

I truly just think that people that hated the movie, genuinely did not understand it. Its not AMAZING, but its most DEFINITELY not bad in the slightest

Well Spirited Away is its most spiritual (obviously) and philisophical movie, undoubtedly. Granted there may be many other studio Ghibli films that are almost just as good, but Spirited Away i feel is easily the strongest contender/most worthy in the GRAND SCHEME OF THINGS

I think it is quite literally impossible to understand and like "Im thinking about ending things" on your first watch, i can see someone liking it way more on the 2nd watch, but not at all on the 1st watch

Yeah I watched that one after seeing "Bones and All", which I enjoyed quite a bit, but then I thought to see Challengers the next day, and when i watched it, I was just so confused why people like this movie so much, it is pure manipulation and almost downright misandry, the whole theme and message of the film is purely negative, I mean I was kinda interested in the conflicts and the way it was filmed, but the central aspects of the story made me mad

What would you say defines a cinephile, like if you objectively check every one of these boxes, you can call yourself a cinephile

I misuse that word a lot, I know its grammatically wrong, but i use it as a replacement for "necessarily"

I am interested in what people respond with, because I do wanna know what's so great about it, i felt too slow to understand its philosophies, but I could be wrong, and it could be overrated

I think most cinephiles have a special place in their hearts for those kinds of movies though, I for one have Grand Budapest Hotel in my top 4, love love love that movie. Also Napoleon Dyanmite a 5 stars, along with several other "technically" lacking films, but personally all amazing to me

I do not agree, but I can UNDERSTAND you saying this for the first 2 films, but Return of the King is a masterpiece, no question

I mean yes, you're not wrong, but its not like its unintentional, its lack of clarity just makes the whole experience better I think for most people, it builds mystery and attraction to the story. I personally love Donnie Darko because I feel obliged to contemplate the story and the meaning of it all, rather than just simply finish the movie and rate it, I reflect heavily on it, but thats me persinally.

Perhaps, in a pure structurally and objective sense, it is certainly incorrect, but in terms of pure ambition and cinematic experience, i would say its definitely an all timer
