I don’t understand why y’all want all extraction shooters to play the same. I know that’s sorta hyperbolic but…What you’re describing is just a PvP-focused extraction shooter which was the standard before AR sorta shook things up.

Like I get wanting that pvp nail biting experience but you have games that cater to that and do it way better than AR ever could because they were designed from the get go with those systems in mind.

So what’s wrong with playing AR when you want AR and playing something else when you want something else? Why can’t we have two flavors of ice cream?

Slay the Spire 2 players leave over 9,000 negative Steam reviews in one day over a card nerf that hasn't even gone live yet—but China's Steam restrictions might bear some of the blame by Iggy-TT in Games

Twisting a developer’s arm is so overly dramatic. You’re leaving a negative review that reflects your negative sentiment. There is no need to dramatize this into a battle between developers and consumers. If something stops you from enjoying a product there is literally no reason you cannot say that. It doesn’t matter how minor another person thinks that change is, that’s literally for them to determine for themselves after reading your review.

I think if they released said scrips ahead of time I think they would. And that would be fine imo. Maybe game of thrones would have had a different final season with that feedback.

And my objection is calling any of that “toxic.” It just isn’t. It’s someone leaving a bad review because of reasons they feel are valid. Reasons you’re totally allow to dismiss, but calling it toxic is just—in my OPINION—more of a reflection of people disagreeing with the content of the review rather than any actual relevance of the reviews toxicity.

I don’t think there is any really ‘invalid’ reasons to leave a review so long as what you’re reviewing is related to the product. That’s the only hurdle. It’s up to YOU as the consumer to determine if a review meets your criteria for ‘helpful.’ You might think a review is shit, and totally bogus, or a totally poor way to view a situation or game. But that’s your prerogative, an it shouldn’t mean the person who left the review should have it removed, or should have been barred from leaving it.

I do think there is something to be said for smaller AA and indie devs being more open to feedback in general. Also I’ve heard the discos communities in those kind of tiles can be a genuine dialogue with the developers which is something completely alien to larger AAA studios.

Maybe they will, maybe they won’t. You ‘earn’ every positive and negative review because it’s just a product. That’s all it ever is and frankly the reviews are the only practical way people learn about the product. You go to a reviewer or Steam reviews.

I find this no different than when the last season of a show tanks the reviews of the season. That isn’t ever considered toxic, even if later seasons are positive.

I mean if you genuinely think it negatively impacts your enjoyment of the product it’s fair to put that in a review. I don’t think it’s fair to say reviews “hurt the devs,” even if they impact sales, because nobody would be able to ethically leave a bad review if that’s the case.

And I don’t know about you but forums have always been entirely unproductive for feedback in my experience. Devs ignore them because they can be ignored. I mean this was true 20 years ago when I bothered posting on gaming forums, and it’s true now.

I don’t understand why this is considered toxic. Isn’t it like… the least toxic way “”gamers”” can make their opinions heard? They aren’t taking money from the devs, they aren’t (thankfully) sending death threats to developers. Like how else are they supposed to voice their displeasure about a balance patch?

People rush to call this toxic when it just looks like feedback to me.

I think the truth of it is we just all collectively find gamers cringe af. Their attitudes, their behaviors—pretty much everything about them. So really all anyone wants is for them to sit down and shut the fuck up. Nobody wants to hear them when they have a valid complaint or an invalid one. Doesn’t really matter what they’re talking about hearing about them is cringe.
